fikon & fig: on this day last year
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010/03/on-this-day-last-year.html
Wednesday, March 17, 2010. On this day last year. On this exact day last year, I mailed in my Visa application to live and work in Sweden. When I arrived to Sweden back in December 2008, I had ignorantly not cared about what paperwork I would actually need to apply for in order to live and work in Sweden. I guess in my naïve head I was so excited about being back with Gillis that I figured “surely Sweden isn’t so strict about who stays in their country.” Well, I was wrong. I am a Texan living in Sweden&#...
fikon & fig: easter
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010/04/easter.html
Wednesday, April 7, 2010. I loved Easter in Sweden because of all of the YELLOW! Yellow daffodils, table clothes, candles, little yellow chickens. Yellow is such a cheerful color. I am not sure if it is a big difference but I think Americans use more white and p. Astels in their Easter decorating. We also use Easter lilies more so than daffodils. But maybe I am generalizing here, regardless, the difference in color and flowers. Was interesting to me. At dinner with singing, snaps, singing, snaps, and whe...
fikon & fig: update!
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010/04/update.html
Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Aj, I haven’t really written too much here lately. Sorry. But I now know of at least 10 (or less, but I dream big! Readers. Hey Mom! So I guess I have some writing to do. This past Saturday, we took the train up to my in-law’s place. My father-in-law picked us up from the station and said “Did you get my comment on your blog? 8221; And I was a bit taken aback…. Wait, my father-in-law READS MY BLOG? This measly, little, scrappy blog? He doesn’t even have Facebook! This is my last m...
fikon & fig: February 2010
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. The first pre spring day. This morning, after introducing my in-laws to the beauty of the breakfast burrito, we all played Trim-Bingo. Which is a bingo but on a long walk. You cross off the numbers you have at each marked post. This picture doesn't depict it but spring is coming! Part of today was 6 Celsius and sunny! Saturday, February 27, 2010. We took an afternoon sauna. It was incredibly relaxing. Instead of jumping in the frozen lake we stood in snow to cool off. One of my...
fikon & fig: January 2010
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. Retreat to the countryside and photos of last spring. Yesterday, we went to Gillis parent's house in the country side. A perfect retreat from the “city life.” We are here the whole weekend and it is always good. Good food, wine, company, and scenery. No matter what season, the southern countryside in Sweden is gorgeous. Although, now after experiencing all four seasons my favorite is the in-between of spring and summer. Thursday, January 28, 2010. I left work a bit early because...
fikon & fig: food in sweden, and i am the weirdo!
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010/03/posted-using-blogpress-from-my-iphone_27.html
Saturday, March 27, 2010. Food in sweden, and i am the weirdo! Thursday was Waffle Day. One of the reasons I love Sweden is that there are a lot of fun food days. Semla Day, Lucia Day, Cinnamon Bun Day. And there are food months: like in August you have a crayfish party and in November you have a goose dinner. The day after Christmas you eat lutefisk. We had waffles and fried eggs. This completely astounded my husband that we would eat FRIED EGGS with WAFFLES. It's like breakfast for dinner," was my reply.

Monday, April 12, 2010. A new domain, a new start- i hope you will join me. After the craziest fiasco with blog posts, I decided to change some things. Basically, blogger and I had some html problems. I don't even know what html means! I have tried to fix the problems for the most part, but to be honest- they overwhelm me. I asked myself, "do I want to continue writing here, put in a some good hours, and fix the problems? The answer was NO. You can now read about my life HERE. Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

fikon & fig: resa till stockholm
http://fikonandfig.blogspot.com/2010/03/posted-using-blogpress-from-my-iphone_17.html
Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Stockholm is an exhausting city. There are people EVERYWHERE, buses, trains, subways, shops. I have gotten used to our little Malmö that whenever we go to Stockholm I get bit overwhelmed and the country-girl in me comes out. We’re goin’ to the big city, y’all! But Stockholm is fantastic to visit. Filled with old streets and alleyways, too many stores, a ton of restaurants, interesting people, our friends, and water! Photos of: the stark. Confessions of a Spinster
Confessions of a Spinster. Sunday, January 27, 2013. So a couple of months ago, a married friend of mine talked me into what I always said was the unthinkable - online dating. We window shopped for boys the night I joined and I quickly panicked and decided I needed to forget about it for the night. Below are a few of the messages I've received on this wonderful web site in the last couple of months. If you were a waffle. So, I see that you like to travel too! Where are some of your favorite places to go?

A Spinsterella Story
It's never too late for happily ever after. State of the union. Well, I just turned 39 years old. That’s slightly horrifying. I suppose it would be better if I was in a different place in my life. But being 39 and single is HARD. I’ve never been married and don’t have kids. Married people tell me that I’m lucky because I can sleep in on weekends, do whatever I want, and don’t have to compromise. The reality is far different. Anyway, spending 3 years with someone in your thirties does eat up time.

Spinster Homemaker
Just me and the creative urge (and a cat.and a dog! Sunday, October 24, 2010. Spinster Homemaker Falls in Love. I adopted Peli (formerly "Roger") from a local rescue organization. He was at a high-kill shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized when the shelter rescued him and put him in a foster home. Was it love at first sight? Let's not get carried away. I will say, though, that I was immediately drawn to his winsome smile, brawny build, and his one blue eye and one brown eye. Links to this post.
