Diary of a geek. Kim Harris (nee Rogers). Thursday, 27 October 2005. Last CLUG meeting for a while. Tonight was my last CLUG. Meeting for a while, and it was a pretty good one. Steve Walsh has kindly offered to take over as the person behind the shell script. That schedules the meetings, and I've moved it from caesar. In the cupboard at home on the end of an ADSL connection) to daedalus. In Brisbane, so it will continue to be accessible while I'm relocating. I'm looking forward to checking out SVLUG.

Diary of a geek - Fixing some issues with changelogs.debian.net
http://blog.andrew.net.au/2015/05/17
Diary of a geek. Kim Harris (nee Rogers). Sunday, 17 May 2015. Fixing some issues with changelogs.debian.net. I got an email last year pointing out a cosmetic issue with changelogs.debian.net. I think at the time of the email, the only problem was some bitrot in PHP's built-in server variables making some text appear incorrectly. I finally got around to fixing it. I also fixed a problem where sometimes there can be multiple entries in the. File for a package (switching to using. It's also been suggested ...

Long Range Craft Jamboree: Funky Red Maternity Shirt
http://sponkycraft.blogspot.com/2007/07/funky-red-maternity-shirt.html
Long Range Craft Jamboree. Saturday, July 14, 2007. Funky Red Maternity Shirt. Originally uploaded by Kim (aka Sponky). I am rather enjoying how easy it is to make maternity shirts - a big sack with some strings on it. This one is made from Burda 8376. Modified as this is a stretch satin rather than a knit as the pattern recommends. It does photograph rather shiny but is cool in person. The string is harvested from scraps from the bridesmaid dress. You can see the back and a better view of the print here.

Long Range Craft Jamboree. Sunday, May 21, 2006. Black and White Quilt. Black and White Quilt. Originally uploaded by Sponky's Modern Life. Have finally finished this baby. Cut my losses as Dj Bebe recommended, committed to an overall quilting design (see here. And just got it done. Definately not perfect, it has lumps and bumps in it, but nice that is si done and no-one will look that close, I think. Now I just need to make up some pillow cases in the backing fabric and it will live on my spare bed.

Well, these pants have been languishing on my ironing board for at least a month, but I have finally got up the energy to finish them off. These are based on Simplicity 4965, modified slightly for better fit using Pants for Real People . And these actually did work. The picture is not fantastic, but I am really appy how these turned out. Para; 7:11 PM. Thursday, March 09, 2006. Originally uploaded by djbebe.

Diary of a geek - Differences on how one purchases petrol
http://blog.andrew.net.au/life/repatexpat
Diary of a geek. Kim Harris (nee Rogers). Thursday, 11 April 2013. Differences on how one purchases petrol. The differences between how one fuels one's car are quite pronounced, between California and Australia. Not to mention how it drags out the whole process. Yesterday I had to wait for a pump while everyone leaves their car, queues inside to pay a single cashier, and then returns to their car and drives away. It'd be an interesting Productivity Commission. Wednesday, 10 April 2013. I've got a car....

Diary of a geek - On Islamaphobia
http://blog.andrew.net.au/opinion
Diary of a geek. Kim Harris (nee Rogers). Thursday, 02 October 2014. It's taken me a while to get sufficiently riled up about Australia's current Islamaphobia outbreak, but it's been brewing in me for a couple of weeks. Not a big fan of the burqa. But again, I'll defend a Muslim woman's right to choose to wear one. They key point here is. I got chatting with the lady while her husband did the work. I got a refresher on where most Kurds are/were (Northern Iraq) and we talked about Sunni versus Shia. Sarah...

Diary of a geek - RSS feed of RC bugs?
http://blog.andrew.net.au/2009/09/06
Diary of a geek. Kim Harris (nee Rogers). Sunday, 06 September 2009. RSS feed of RC bugs? Stefano Zacchiroli's post about fixing an RC bug a day. Got me thinking. In my Google Reader, I already have the feed of new Debian packages. Does such a feed already exist somewhere? ISC DHCP 4.1.0 available in experimental (call for testing). I finalised the initial upload of the ISC DHCP 4.1.0 packages a couple of days ago, and it sat in NEW. Because I've renamed the source package (no more. Kudos to the ftp-team.
