Spooky Action: Mini Confectioner's Haggis - a Tale of Experience Design

http://spookyaction.blogspot.com/2006/11/mini-confectioners-haggis-tale-of.html

It's a Productive Irreverence. Mini Confectioner's Haggis - a Tale of Experience Design. Pot Luck. A team-building tradition in organizations large and small, formal and informal, for centuries! About once a year we have one at work, and when they came around asking for volunteers to bring a dish I was glad to sign up. I felt like I hit the jackpot and drew a coveted dessert slot. One quick trip to Costco for some macademia nut cookies and I'd be good to go! Or so I thought. And for added excitement, I c...

Spooky Action: Good to Great Throughout the Ages

http://spookyaction.blogspot.com/2005/04/good-to-great-throughout-ages.html

It's a Productive Irreverence. Good to Great Throughout the Ages. If we pass the bright light of G2G through the prism of epic mythology, what will project onto the opposite wall? But not unparalleled (though very elite company). So how do the old good to great stories relate to the new ones? Two ideas suggest themselves to me. One question people have about G2G is: how many people need to be in the right seats? Only the top level of management? Everybody who's going to be watching someone's back when yo...

Spooky Action: When Bad Things Happen to Good Concepts - Attack of the Consensus Blob

http://spookyaction.blogspot.com/2006/04/when-bad-things-happen-to-good.html

It's a Productive Irreverence. When Bad Things Happen to Good Concepts - Attack of the Consensus Blob. Over at Random Thoughts of a CTO, asks is there a downside to collaboration? I am a firm believer that collaboration and communication is essential if you want to have a successful project. I also believe it is good if the team can agree on many of the decisions because they will be more motivated to make the project successful and they believe in the goals of the project. Collaboration is vital to solv...

2014 June : Coconut Headsets

Rob May’s Blog About Business, Finance, and Critical Thinking. Why I Still Love Print Media. Reading this article about why print journalism still mattered inspired me to give my own take on this issue. Since this is a digital format, let me be short: digital media promotes breadth over depth, is less efficient to consume, and lacks the serendipitous aspects of print. Now for the longer version. January 15, 2009. Korg nanoKey - Review. There are a bunch of reviews of this, and I'd say that most of the ones I read were fairly accurate. 1) It does, in some ways, feel like a "toy". 2) The layout of the keys takes some getting used to. 3) It is the perfect size to sit in fron of a Mac Book Pro. 4) It is just cool as crap. and fun! Business Evolutionist: Running Towards Pleasure

http://jstrande.typepad.com/blog/2007/08/running-towards.html

Laquo; What should WSJ.com do? Keeping Attention ». August 12, 2007. Three years ago found yours truly job hunting. I landed a really cool position very quickly as a business analyst for a global electronic components manufacturer ( Tyco Electronics. That position quickly led to a great opportunity to work on the company web site (and eventually the position of Usability Team Leader). I had been working on web stuff for most of my career, so it was a logical move. I loved the work I was doing, very much.

http://jstrande.typepad.com/blog/2007/08/the-truly-desir.html

Laquo; Pete Yorn was great! What should WSJ.com do? August 10, 2007. The truly desirable electric car. I first read about the car a year ago, in Wired. A fast, battery-powered, sports car, that looked like a sports car. (check out a video from Sundance Channel. Click view more, then Drive 4). Let's face it, most of us buy cars (and almost everything else) for truly emotional reasons. There probably isn't a guy alive who wouldn't love to drive one of these - including yours truly. Laquo; The truly desirable electric car. Running Towards Pleasure ». August 11, 2007. What should WSJ.com do? Two of my favorite bloggers recently offered up compelling, and opposing, views on what the Wall St. Journal should do with its website. First up, Fred over at A VC, wrote. Rupert Murdoch should make the WSJ as free to use online as Google is. And he should do that the first day he owns the paper. Why isn't the WSJ the force in the online world that is it in the offline world? 2) Pay for particip...

Laquo; If only it had. some implicit personalization. Korg nanoKey - Review ». December 31, 2008. I tend to be overly positive when discussing new ideas, my take is that when you are discussing change, you should always start from a position of anything is possible. Its true that you dont always get to do everything perfectly or as youd like, however, why constrain something at the outset? My new question to them is simple: how would you solve it if you had to? Spooky Acres

Sunday, October 20, 2013. I have had the idea for this mine cart since I first put out the Spooky Gulch sign several years ago. Obviously, time was the largest hurdle, but somehow the stars aligned and I was able to get most of the construction done for the mine cart. As with the haunted mine facade, I was able to make this entirely out of scraps that I had lying around the garage. With a coat of paint and some faux finishing, I think this will be a great addition to Spooky Gulch and Spooky Acres. I have...
