Things I Make

Sunday, October 3, 2010. Olivia fell in love with this costume in a magazine a while ago and decided this was the Halloween costume that she wanted. Of course the whole thing costs $200, so I decided to make it. It took me a long time to find some fabrics that were similar to the ones in the magazine.and of course I can't make it exactly the same, so I'm improvising a bit. But, I hid the orginal picture, so she may actually forget what she originally wanted! We'll see how it comes out! The more I watch P...

Things I Make: Finally finished

http://www.spoolsofthread.blogspot.com/2010/03/finally-finished.html

Wednesday, March 24, 2010. I finally finished the blue dress (weeks ago, just didn't take a picture of it! I like the way it turned out.mostly. I love the top, but the waist was a bit awkward. I had to really work so that I didn't look like I had a prego belly. For some reason the way the material laid against my body and the way it sucked against my bum wasn't very flattering! Got it to fit well though! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Things I Make: A girl can never have too many dresses

http://www.spoolsofthread.blogspot.com/2010/04/girl-can-never-have-too-many-dresses.html

Sunday, April 4, 2010. A girl can never have too many dresses. I can't stop making little dresses! I'm hoping to get a little better and than maybe I can start selling them on Etsy or something.I should figure out how to make money off of them! For now, Olivia and my nieces are really making out well! Here's the little sundress I sent out to Baby B for Easter. Ainsley is getting one too, but it wasn't ready to send out with my Easter box! I have to play with it, but it was so cute! Drawer full of patterns.

Things I Make: Kinderquin

http://www.spoolsofthread.blogspot.com/2010/09/kinderquin.html

Friday, September 24, 2010. What is a Kinderquin you may ask? The more I watch Project Runway the more I think "wow, it would be so much easier to make clothes for Olivia if she was standing still in my dining room (where I sew) all the time." OR "if I had my own $200 adjustable dressform". Since the budget does not allow for a dressform, I had to resort to making my own. So, yesterday we put Olivia in a tee shirt and tights and duct taped her up! It is sort of creepy though to see it naked.

Things I Make: Cap sleeve dress

http://www.spoolsofthread.blogspot.com/2010/03/cap-sleeve-dress.html

Saturday, March 13, 2010. I really need to finish my blue dress.but in the meantime. I have a baby shower to go to this weekend, so I needed to make a little dress to wear. I'm really challenging myself to get this dress done in a week. With the two kids and all the stuff we do, I really have to squeeze in the time to sew! My son loves to play with my sewing machine, so I have to distract him with something else. I thought this would be easy, but then I cut out the pattern. View my complete profile.

The Family Krout: March 2010

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 26, 2010. Olivia goes to a performing arts school so I guess I shouldn't be surprised when she comes home and says "Mommy, I'm going to be in a talent show tomorrow". Then again, she's 5, so yes, that should totally surprise me! I asked what she was singing and she said "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". A huge part of me sighed in relief that it was an easy song I had no doubt she knew backwards and forwards. Nothing worse than your child freezing up on stage I'm sure! Posted by Family Krout.

The Family Krout: November 2010

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 19, 2010. Luke had a birthday this week and is now officially 4! He waited until Wednesday to accept this age change. He was really content at 3. I think he's worried that 4 means he'll have to grow up a bit. He had a great day, started off with opening his present from Grandmom: Just Dance 2. He's gotten really good with his dance moves! I have to say, I'm getting really good at that game! It's a bit of a workout if you choose the right songs! Posted by Family Krout. Katie's ray of light.

The Family Krout: Christmas

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas.html

Saturday, December 25, 2010. Here we are on Christmas eve after church.lucky to get this picture with everyone still dressed up! They were pretty excited to get in their PJ's knowing they were one step closer to Santa's arrival! And bedtime was so easy since they knew once they woke up they'd finally get to see their presents. Santa arrived and this is what he left behind. He left us a snowy footprint too! Santa ate all the cookies! Olivia got a super cool Barbie camper, some old school colorforms and th...

Saturday Night's All right for Ice Cream! Saturday night we went to Old Wethersfield to get some super homemade icecream at the Creamery (better than my ice cream I admit). The Family Krout: January 2010

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 17, 2010. Not the crafting diva. I've been getting better lately, I've been sewing purses (don't look inside, threads everywhere) and I even make Olivia and I matching dresses for Christmas (washing them was really nervewracking.would they survive? But, most of the stuff I make is obviously home made! I strive to make something that doesn't look homemade. I knit a lot of hats (other than scarves, that's all I can knit) and half of them don't fit anyone's heads! Posted by Family Krout.

The Family Krout: Trunk or Treating

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010/10/trunk-or-treating.html

Friday, October 29, 2010. Yesterday was the MOMS Club's annual Trunk or Treating. We basically pull our trunks up together in a parking lot, decorate them and then set the kids off to trick or treat. It's great for them because they get to see all their friends in their costumes since we don't see them on Halloween day, and they don't all go to the same school. It's a lot of fun, and we lucked out with 75 degrees at the start of it! But, when the sun went down, it became pretty chilly! Visit from the West.

The Family Krout: February 2010

http://kroutfam.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 28, 2010. Good bye old swingset. On a whim i put it up for $200. In a matter of an hour I had two replies back, and in a week it was sold! It just set off with a nice set of grandparents with four grandkids who I know will get good use out of it! It was a great first experience selling something like that.and we actually made some money back from it. One thing I didn't expect was the barage of tears from Luke when he saw it driving away. "Bring it back! Posted by Family Krout. Luke loves...
