A good tomato can do a lot for a sandwich. and, it being summer, it was time to celebrate the great tomatoes we have. and, of course, we had to invite the avocado to the celebration. chopsticks chimes in, "you can have your blt, i want my tomato and avocado sandwich.". The joy of eating cold leftovers. I heard a dj talking about eating cold leftovers on radio the other day. a heated debate ensued, namely along the gender line, on the acceptable vs. disgusting nature of consuming cold leftovers. the host had just finished some cold chinese, male callers were singing the praises of cold pizza and other lukewarm, day-after delicacies while the female callers seemed disgusted by it. All i could think about was cold macaroni and cheese. Butternut squash macaroni and cheese.

Pool is open, summer is here. The temperatures have certainly indicated summer for some time, but we'll mark the "official" start to summer with the long awaited opening of our community pool. chopsticks is already sunscreened up and ready to go. ojp is staring up at me with those puppy dog eyes that just scream "dad, can i go too? Time for some much needed vitamin d with a light meal to follow. Week 6: excited about beets. Not so much. however, she can relish in her new job as household photographer.

Long weekend threw us off so we forgot to put in our weekly box order. the saving grace was the auto-order feature the produce box has in place that automatically sends the weekly "box a" box if you forget. while it marks the end of a surprise box run, at least we know exactly what we are getting this week. This is generally not the time to try a new recipe b/c they take much longer - - unless of course it's a really easy recipe. Weekends mean you'll have more prep time available, but keep in mind that weekends can also be very active. Don't marry yourself to a weekend meal plan that means you won't have time to do the restful things you enjoy!
