Life as a Housewife in Tokyo. Sunday, May 27, 2007. Japanese Festivals - 祭 (1). May is the month of festivals in Japan. Most of the festivals ( おまつり at this time consist of carrying portable shrines and walking around the vicinity, leaving the temple grounds at about 8am and only reaching back in the evening. Or worse, during summer (hot and humid 39deg! And rubbing shoulders/back/breast and whatnots with the person in front and behind of you. Scroll to view the pictures below and you'll know what I mean.

Both Joe and I are well and safe and unaffected by the 2 calamities that struck Japan almost consecutively.
