Rucanor in de bocht. Februari 16, 2016. Dank aan Rucanor voor de donatie van een partij springtouwtjes. Door waterschade aan de verpakking voldeden de artikelen niet meer aan de kwaliteitseisen van Rucanor om ze aan de detailhandel te kunnen leveren. Voor Sports for Children waren ze echter zeer bruikbaar. Na wat poetswerk, gingen er de laatste circa 10 transporten structureel een doos springtouwen mee naar de scholen. ‘. Scholen in Nederland hebben budget om één keer in de zoveel tijd nieuwe gymtoestellen te kopen. Vaak worden de oude spullen weggegooid. En dat terwijl kinderen in sommige landen helemaal geen toestellen hebben om mee te gymen. Dat vinden wij zonde! Daarom haalt Sports for Children de gebruikte spullen op bij de Nederlandse scholen. We brengen ze naar onze opslag in Helmond, waar ze worden opgeknapt als dat nodig is. Soms maken we bijvoorbeeld van drie kapotte kasten weer een nieuwe goede.

Tijdens onze reis in 2013, zagen we tijdens ons bezoek aan de Jule Fernandesschool (een school voor moeilijk lerende kinderen en kinderen met een beperking) dat ze een prachtige gymzaal hadden gekregen.
