Daily BISdom: April/May/June Madness
http://bsherrick.blogspot.com/2010/04/aprilmayjune-madness.html
Friday, April 16, 2010. For the past few days, I've been contemplating writing about Ben Roethlisberger and sports leagues' personal conduct policies, but it's just so damned depressing, for some reason. Instead, I'm going to write about the NBA playoffs, which start tomorrow and end some time before the MLB playoffs start. Question of the Week:. Who will win the NBA playoffs? Their male opposites should at least be second-round bound. I'll take the Dallas Mavericks over the Boston C's in 6. As for the M...

After Atalanta: February 2013

A blog dedicated to discussions of gender and sports. Wednesday, February 13, 2013. The Missing and the Metrics. I remember a couple of years ago I was a regular reader of a fellow grad student's blog. When she got down to writing her dissertation, she took a blog hiatus. I thought then "well, come on. You must have time to blog even if you are writing your dissertation.". Ok, so I get it now. But I was recently encouraged. To blog about the recent emergence at ESPN.com. Those were the days.). What about...

An update on my hectic life | Curveball
https://amber0marie.wordpress.com/2013/05/01/an-update-on-my-hectic-life
An update on my hectic life. Holy three and a half months, Batman. Where have I been? I’ll tell you where I’ve been. Working my proverbial (and literal) ass off, that’s where. I had to swallow my pride and go back to waiting tables. Because apparently my student loans don’t care if I have to live in a cardboard box underneath the I-10 overpass. Buuuut it’s paying the bills, and I haven’t strangled any customers yet. I’ve also become obsessed with weight-lifting. How’s that for a change in topic? You are ...

Busting out of the kitchen. When I was working for the Tennessee Titans, I wrote a practice report that talked about then-rookie wide receiver Marc Mariani. In fact, in the practice report, I called him “rookie wide receiver Marc Mariani.” I later discovered, however, that when the Web guys put the package on TitansOnline.com. 8220;I know you’re just getting a foot in this biz. So I will not be harsh. Besides, it’s not MY profession. Ha! You can write, sure… but can ya dig up facts like the pros? That’s ...

Daily BISdom: March 2011
http://bsherrick.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Build your own morality. I finally finished Dragon Age II. Last night, after exactly three weeks of on-again/off-again play. I’ve had a couple of gamers, whose opinions I trust, tell me that they find the Mass Effect. Series to be far superior to the Dragon Age. Series – both Bioware RPGs. I like both, but I connect with Dragon Age. More for some reason that I’m not particularly concerned with understanding. But, by the end of Dragon Age II. I was actively making 0 decisions &#...

Daily BISdom: July 2011
http://bsherrick.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 11, 2011. The (sports) world according to BISdom. With two of the major professional sports leagues locked out, it seems like a good time to make some major alterations to those leagues. But the NBA and the NFL aren’t the only sports leagues that would benefit from some tinkering, so here’s my best suggestion for some major sports organizations, starting with the two currently locked out. MLB should remove – forcibly, if necessary – Chris “Back Back Back Boomer” Berma...Quote of the Day:.
