Douglas County Pheasants Forever and Viking Sportsmen held a Parent/Daughter shooting event on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Alexandria Shooting Park. The event featured 23 girls shooting clay pigeons and slingshots, identifying different animal furs, and offered the opportunity to shoot a rare flintlock shotgun. VIKING SPORTSMEN, INC. Viking Sportsmen, along with the help of many volunteers, put together a day where they take senior citizens and special handicapped people out on pontoons to fish for three hours. Each boat has two to four volunteers to provide help baiting the hooks and removing the fish that are caught. Refreshments are provided for the participants. When the boats return to the docks the fishermen and women are transported back to the fairground for a fish fry at the 4-H building.

This WMA consists of 316 acres of native grasses, Aspen pines and wetlands and is the home to pheasants, deer, turkeys and many more wildlife species.
