New state, new town, new home, new life…. Asymp; 5 Comments. I know its been a while, but we’ve been busy outside, and then we had a visitor (MY MOMMY! So I’ve been busy, busy, busy! More posts on the outside stuff to come, but right now, I need some help! So we have a split level home. Very 1986. The door was replaced not long before the house was put on the market, and it’s a plain, basic, white front door. I hate it! I don’t know what it is, but I hate a white door! Here’s a photo of the house:. Now I...
The Buddy, the Snake, and Hate… | sproutinghome

New state, new town, new home, new life…. The Buddy, the Snake, and Hate…. Asymp; 4 Comments. For some reason, weird things always happen to me while I’m out with the boys. Last year I was nursing the Biddy in my car in a grocery store parking lot. When we finished and I went into the grocery store an older lady came up and told me I should be ashamed of myself for breastfeeding in public. (Public = in a remote spot of parking lot, in my car, covered.). He was just being a snake.”. See over the past few ...
Pretty Tomato Cages! | sproutinghome

New state, new town, new home, new life…. Asymp; 1 Comment. So I am working on a big garden post for this weekend, but since it’s almost tomato time I thought I would give you just a quick taste. So we got out of line. I needed at least 4 cages, and $8.00 seemed a bit steep to me. After a bit of quick thinking, we figured there was no reason why (if all we really wanted was the color not necessarily the extra protection) we couldn’t just spray paint them. So, stick cages in ground and spray paint! These ...

New state, new town, new home, new life…. Asymp; 2 Comments. Breakfast for dinner is a huge thing around here for two reasons:. 1 The boys eat it. 2 It helps keep our budget in check. Yup, we have breakfast for dinner about once a week here. Tonight I knew we’d be doing breakfast for dinner, but I wasn’t sure what. So I hopped on Pinterest. And checked out my Recipe Board. Lo and behold, I found a recipe I’d pinned a few weeks ago, but never got around to making – Toddler French Toast Sticks. I could eat...

defyingtheworld: Striving for Clarity; Pausing to Reset
http://defyingtheworld.blogspot.com/2015/08/striving-for-clarity-pausing-to-reset.html
One day at a time. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Striving for Clarity; Pausing to Reset. Having recently moved from our neighborhood of seven years to a brand new neighborhood in a familiar town, I’ve been doing some thinking about friendships. My mind is attempting to process cleaving from one community and beginning again in another, and I have all these snippets of thought about friends and friendship dying to be organized. So here we go. There are so many different types of friends:. People whose kids...
defyingtheworld: Losing Robin Williams
http://defyingtheworld.blogspot.com/2015/08/losing-robin-williams.html
One day at a time. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. After Robin Williams' sudden death last year, I fully intended to sit down and write about it because losing him felt strangely personal. As I sorted through why, I realized that I was grieving. I went online and saw that I wasn't alone; so many people posted that they felt like they'd lost a member of their own family. I felt the same. About a stranger, a person I'd never met. I just have to be careful when and how often I do it. It's worth it if it helps...

One day at a time. Friday, June 28, 2013. I suck, you suck, we ALL suck; let's go to church! The ants go marching. You try getting all dolled up and visiting churches at 8mos pregnant! I'm sure I have briefly mentioned before that the small (150 member? After serving more Sundays (morning AND evening! Not to be in church. We just didn't expect to be gone this long. Where you don't have to be perfect (phew! You can make mistakes, but there IS such a thing as forgiveness and redemption. Which is what c...
defyingtheworld: Dear New Homeowners
http://defyingtheworld.blogspot.com/2015/06/dear-new-homeowners.html
One day at a time. Monday, June 22, 2015. Dear New Homeowners,. First of all, welcome home! And thank you, for choosing and purchasing our house. We bought this home in 2008 from a woman named Emily (we still sometimes get mail for her), who was the original owner and kept the house well-maintained (except for the white carpet, which had grayed and we knew we would quickly replace). The interior was all pale yellow except for the master bath which was an unflattering brown. Jen, Jason and Liam.

One day at a time. Saturday, April 18, 2015. One word, mumbled soft. A whisper, lost in the jumble of the day. Hours later, a deacon utters the same to his daughter. And I am split open, transported back, touched so deep. One word. The impact paramount. A downpour to the dry, cracked, aching desert of my eternally hopeful heart. Please don’t hurt me. I just finished creating a photobook on Shutterfly.com and listed several of his favorite things at this stage in life, and I thought I'd post them here so I can look back and see his progress. His baby years are flying by so quickly, I don't want to forget any of these details. His favorite foods are. Lala (water), hop, fell down, up, gone gone, kook (cookie), dinga dinga (? One day at a time. Wednesday, August 13, 2014. It's official: I have a TWO. When did THAT happen? When did he transform from a baby into a little boy? Who runs and jumps and laughs and says PHRASES like "open da door," "hank you Mom-eee," "go uppa hill,". And "Tom stuck adda bridge.". I just ordered a Thomas the Train potty for his bathroom. Sometimes I wish the hospital staff had given us a remote for him, equipped with a pause (or mute? I truly do love parenting this kid. I wish I could take credit...
