As a surprise for my sister I knocked out this portrait of my nephew, if by knocked out I mean painstakingly labored over for an extended period of time. Although a photo was used as a reference, everything was drawn entirely by hand in Illustrator. My nephew thought it was pretty cool.

Another piece from the same series done for the band. The image on the bombs was our logo, which probably got more local notoriety than our music. For the record I'd also like to point out that I did this, along with a heart grenade piece, well over a year before Green Day used virtually identical imagery. I decided not to include the heart grenade here as theirs looked better, damn it.

I designed this a year or two back for a band I was in at the time. We were looking for stark, militant visuals that had a stenciled graffiti look. This picture still gives me chills, despite the fact that the chimp's fingers are nowhere near the trigger.

This was done for a family newsletter years ago but I liked it enough to touch up and reshade a couple years ago. The bird is notable as he was the first original character I created, way back in second grade. Since I was in second grade, I named him Big Beak. Part of me wants to strip out the shading and color this, but I think it's pretty evocative as is.

Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Thursday, June 11, 2009. I have witnessed one common strain among all New Yorkers and it is this: they consider New York to be the. City, with all other competing metropolises little more than barely mentionable also- rans. 160;Oh sure, they'll show appreciation for other cities like Chicago or Los Angeles, but it's always accompanied with a half-smirk that makes it clear that you've got a cute city and all but let's not get too carried away, hmmm. http://squappity.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. 4:35 PM on a Tuesday. I watched the brilliant day through the breakroom. Window, green trees saluting a sharp blue sky.  Grass danced restlessly from the wind.  Sunlight reflected a warm world both blinding and inviting. Incredible day," someone said. I then retreated into a stark hallway, my eyes adjusting to darkness as phantom colors danced across my vision and plotted the course that could have been. Thursday, May 7, 2009. Writing is...

Broken Bricks: Returning to Dungeon Master, Pt. 4: To Have and Behold

http://squappity.blogspot.com/2012/06/returning-to-dungeon-master-pt-4-to.html

Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Monday, June 11, 2012. Returning to Dungeon Master, Pt. 4: To Have and Behold. This is a series about my recent attempt to play the classic CRPG Dungeon Master, and it will contain minor spoilers regarding this game. I can't imagine they won't be common knowledge to anyone who cares- the game is 25 years old, after all- but consider yourself forewarned. You also might want to first read Part One. Nothing like a room full of teleportation fields to test one's.

Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. The progress meter for chapter 1.2. The next installment of our online graphic novel Atroxity. Has been updated to 27%. Fair enough, but what exactly does this mean? Our online progress meter. Of course, want to know what else disrupts the flow of the story? A nine month wait between updates. But, uh, we're working on that. In an attempt to tide fans over during the wait. Behind-the-scenes prologue shot shared. On our Facebook page.

Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Of voting attempts and church ladies. This morning I voted. My local polling place is the meeting room of a church, and as such the polls tend to be manned by elderly. There was one other voter present, just ahead of me with his young son in what technically counted as a line.  He was identified and handed a ballot, the voting-specific transaction thus completed. Mistaking the unimportant for the important. Friday, April 5, 2013. The Only Constant In Life Is Change. My wife and I have news to dust off this blog and announce, although it probably isn't the news that is expected:. We have decided to quit our jobs, sell our condo, throw everything we own into cardboard boxes, pack up our two cats, and head west. No, this isn't a joke: we are moving to Portland, Oregon. To rephrase it in a way that actually is. Are you ready to jump? The problem with this, of course,...
