Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Friday, 28 June 2013. New Garmin and London-Cardiff 24hrs. Another great feature is the ability to share my location, speed and heart rate on the move - so my support crew (and you guys! Will be able to check how I'm getting on. I'll be using it tomorrow at Box Hill and then next weekend when competing in the London-Cardiff 24hr relay race ( http:/ www.wolfpackrunning.com/#! Monday, 24 June 2013. Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013: January 2013
http://mtblanc2013.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Tuesday, 15 January 2013. Last night we went to Evans Cycles in Waterloo to test ride a few bikes. We learnt some important lessons - a) we know nothing about bikes and b) they are bloomin' expensive. Whilst the test ride was pretty useful to get sizing and requirements right, we agreed our total mileage on road bikes up to this point was probably around a mile between us - quite a lot of work to do in the next few months! Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013: Chamonix 9 - 10
http://mtblanc2013.blogspot.com/2013/09/chamonix-9-10.html
Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Tuesday, 10 September 2013. Chamonix 9 - 10. Monday was spent mountaineering – getting used to climbing at altitude, practicing ice climbing and learning safety techniques for crevasse crossings. We then drove to Annecy to do some ground handling and drills to familiarize ourselves with our new wings. Today we confirmed sponsorship from ITV paragliding – a company steeped in paragliding fame. After creating one of the first specific paragliding wings, ITV have always ...

I've embedded my Strava feed to the right of the page so you can see our training efforts, as well as track us down during the challenge. This is the bag containing the wing and harness. We'll be carrying this - plus all of our equipment/food for a couple of days on the mountain. A considerable weight to climb 4,800m with! Finally off the ground! The highest altitude we reached all weekend.

Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013: Chamonix: Days 1 - 3
http://mtblanc2013.blogspot.com/2013/09/chamonix-days-1-3.html
Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Sunday, 8 September 2013. Chamonix: Days 1 - 3. I was pretty terrified. My first experience with crampons would be walking down a knife edge arête with huge slopes either side. I was roped to Jenni and Graham and we took it nice and slowly – and I soon relaxed. It was about a 45 minute hike to the mountain hut and I enjoyed every moment. Now for the flight! Second time around - we nailed it. Full speed off the cliff – and before I knew it we were soaring up ...We land...

Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013: March 2013
http://mtblanc2013.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Tuesday, 5 March 2013. We've been out on our first few big rides over the last couple of weeks - getting used to spending time in the saddle, using clip-ins for the first time and stomping down some miles! We've also just discovered the Strava GPS app - which tracks our distance, speed and elevation - and compares our performance with the pros and our friends. Everything has since got a LOT more competitive. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Http:/ www.itv-parapentes...

Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013: August 2013
http://mtblanc2013.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Cycle, Climb, Fly - Mont Blanc 2013. Saturday, 31 August 2013. Start: Lons Le Saunier Finish: Saint Geneva. Distance: 77miles Climb: 6,800ft Moving Time: 7:10 Average Speed: 11mph Max Speed: 42mph. What A. Day. It turns out that the two hardest days – the two that I had been dreading the most – have been by far my favourite of the trip. We really hit the mountains today – huge climbs up to ski resorts, mountain passes and 10 mile high speed descents. Epic. What were you worried about? One of my best mome...
