Recently Read - Astrobolism! Aug 29th, 2011 @ 10:33 am. So I finished book six of The Malazan Book of the Fallen ( The Bonehunters. Which was great, and Lev Grossman's The Magician King. Which I thought was also great. The second Fantomas novel, on the other hand, was not great, though it was sublime in its own way. August 29th, 2011 03:49 pm (UTC). God, I love those books (and movies! August 29th, 2011 04:53 pm (UTC). But now I can at least read a few more. I haven't seen the movies, either.

Fighting the Derail Since March 2009. The master has a black and decker" criticism? Fighting the Derail Since March 2009. The master has a black and decker" criticism? Cons: wiscon 33 (2009). Derailing: how to/not to. Resources: works by poc. EDIT: A good thirty seconds after making this post it occurred to me to search via delicious and I found a page about it. Oh well, consider this post a rec rather than a request :). Does anyone have a link? I skimmed through what I think is the relevant linkspam.

On Being Profound - CRACKPOT PALACE
http://jeffford2010.livejournal.com/55540.html
Visit The Well-Built City. The tendency of new fiction writers to want to be profound in their work is an admirable trait and a noble pursuit but can often lead to stories that are dead on arrival. The desire to say something important to the world makes sense, because if not that, then whats the point? The problem with it, though, is that the new writer sometimes isnt yet aware of what fiction actually is or how it works and this results in a story thats pedantic. In writing it. They will hunt down ...

Oh Those Russians - Angels Don't Speak Chinese
http://chinese-angels.livejournal.com/4530.html
Oh Those Russians - Angels Dont Speak Chinese. Aug 9th, 2010. The Russians are very popular in Western SF. The three totally different stories I've read online (via SignalSF) - "Olga". By CTAdams, "How to Become a Mars Overlord". By Catherynne M. Valente and "Going Deep". By James Patrick Kelly - all feature something Russian. It's all right with Catherynne's story: there are the names for the planets or moons like Volniy and Vernost. Is a real riddle for me. Grishenko? August 9th, 2010 12:13 pm (UTC).
