Squirrel on the Trail. Turn left at the barely visible signpost. List of Trail Guides. Map of Trail Guides. Blue Ridge on the Angeles Crest Highway. September 7, 2013. This is a moderate hike on the northern side of the San Gabriel Mountain range, accessed by the picturesque Angeles Crest Highway (California State Highway 2) in the Big Pine area, just past Wrightwood. The Blue Ridge name comes from the dark denim-blue tinged Pelona schist. Which can be seen along the trail towards the end of the hike.
