Tuesday, April 6, 2010. I finally found the time to start sewing a simple smock apron. The pattern was featured on the Sew Mama Sew blog. As a sew-along a few years ago. I was triumphantly starting the last phase of construction yesterday when my sewing machine broke. I think my machine's timing was off, and that I exacerbated the problem working on the apron yesterday. Pictures tomorrow, as I have to go to work early! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). i like snails: Happenings
http://jellily.blogspot.com/2009/07/happenings.html
Sunday, July 26, 2009. I have so many exciting updates! First, Scott got over his indecision and decided to complete his one year obligation to the DoD, so that he will have more graduate school choices and could apply with me. He moved to Washington in mid-June. The week before he moved, he was in Ireland for his paper. I think he had a good time in Ireland; he didn't say much about the trip. I'm going to move in with Chris and Lily (and they are not charging me rent! This weekend, I started preparing t...

Monday, March 29, 2010. Dez came to visit this weekend, which was a ton of fun. Her bus arrived on Friday morning, and we took the metro back to the apartment to pick up Scott. We spent the day in the city, at the Smithsonian. We were hoping to walk the Tidal Basin, but it was rainy and cold, so we chose indoor activities. We spent Sunday hanging out at our apartment after our exhausting drive. Friday, March 5, 2010. After days, and months, of fretting over making small circles out of poly-clay, I have.

Snowflake Quilts: Italian Plum Torte - a family tradition for end of summer and Christmas morning
http://snowflakequilt.blogspot.com/2009/09/italian-plum-torte-family-tradition-for.html
Saturday, September 12, 2009. Italian Plum Torte - a family tradition for end of summer and Christmas morning. Little, dusky purple plums (sometimes called prune plums) are available once a year in your local grocery store. I wait till they are about $1.50 lb and buy about 100 which will give me enough for about 5 tortes. I make 1 or 2 that week and the family devours them. I freeze the rest to be used for my Christmas morning plum torte treat. 1/2 cup butter, softened. 1 tsp baking powder. Serve warm pl...
