Ancient lore in the Malabar region of Kerala is replete with legend of Muthappan. Sree Muthappan is the personification of two glory figures Vishnu and Shiva. The legend has it, that a childless Brahmin couple Ayyankara Illathu Vazhunnor and his wife Padikutty Amma found a pretty child lying on a flowerbed by the side of a river. They adopted the child as a boon given by Lord Parameswara since they didn’t have a child.
