Carmel in Oz: Bushwalking with Mr Dan Smith and other potterings
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2008/03/bushwalking-with-mr-dan-smith-and-other.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Saturday, 22 March 2008. Bushwalking with Mr Dan Smith and other potterings. Well it seems my declaration last week that it was the 'end of summer' has been taken up as a challenge by those in charge of the weather, as we've had gloriously sunny days, blue skies and calm warm sea since then - hurrah! Mooching with Christina on Bronte Beach. To stay a few days. I sat opposite Dan for about four years (I think? Dusted them down and prepared for some proper bushwalking. It's an inc...

Carmel in Oz: Movies movies and more movies
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2009/03/movies-movies-and-more-movies.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Monday, 2 March 2009. Movies movies and more movies. I'm starting to realise that films really dominate my life, from watching them to making them, to watching other people make them, to watching people win awards for them, to flying interstate to see them, to blogging about them, to tweeting about them: all I seem to think about is movies. Watching the Oscars with my team. Shall I cycle to work or get the bus today? And Is there more to life than film? To (yes, you guessed it!

Carmel in Oz: Princesses!
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2008/04/princesses.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Saturday, 5 April 2008. As well as my funky Bondi hospitality, with barbecues, clifftop walks and body surfing in Bronte, we ventured together to Western Sydney, to visit some of Noreen's extended family and sample some traditional Hazara food. It was lovely to see Noreen's mum again, and her cousins were dead cute. Check out some pics on flickr. With Jana on Bronte beach. Dinner with Noreen's family. Noreen tucks into breakfast in Jed's. Hanging out with Noreen at Matt's house.

Carmel in Oz: Welcome to fabulous Brisvegas, Queensland
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2010/07/welcome-to-fabulous-brisvegas.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Wednesday, 7 July 2010. Welcome to fabulous Brisvegas, Queensland. Brisbane is about an hour's flight north of Sydney, in slightly warmer climes, and is quite a modern city built on a river. I spent most of my time there on the South Bank, which was the arts district, but was creepily similar to London's South Bank, with its concrete brutalist square architecture and a wheel that seemed a copy of the London Eye. South Bank: London or Brisbane? Two very little old ladies. It's ta...

Carmel in Oz: Easter weekend
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2011/04/easter-weekend.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Wednesday, 27 April 2011. Easter brought an extra long weekend for us here in Australia, as it coincided with a very important annual holiday, ANZAC day. Where we remember people from the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps who have given their lives in service of their (and the Mother) country. My five day weekend began with a fantastic brunch at the home of my friend Beth's parents. Amazing hot cross buns. Autumnal Easter road trip colours. And they have a fab location right ...

Carmel in Oz: I *heart* New Zealand
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2008/10/i-heart-new-zealand.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Sunday, 12 October 2008. I *heart* New Zealand. I left my BlackBerry charger at home, so had no contact with the outside world for two whole weeks (apart from the odd sneak into an internet cafe to check the rugby scores and bank balance! With dad near Lake Hawea. In a glacial cave. Dad getting soaked while caving. Twisty lakeside roads formed much of our route. Tek care. Lambs on t'road. Who will it be? At least this made us a very easygoing pair of travel companions, as we wer...

Carmel in Oz: Carmel in Oz in Canada!
http://carmelinoz.blogspot.com/2008/09/carmel-in-oz-in-canada.html
Girl in the Emerald City. Saturday, 6 September 2008. Carmel in Oz in Canada! So, my first trip overseas since I moved to Australia, after vowing never to take evil long haul. Sydney Skyline with the Spirit of Australia. She was a little surprised to see me, as Siobhan. Had expected me to land a couple of days later, but there they both were, Siobhan tanned after her trip to Fiji, and Helen taking a while to recognise me. They were both very good at keeping me awake so I could survive my jetlag. Monday 1...

Audiences are for suckers! Welcome to the blog that nobody reads. Monday, February 27, 2006. Farewell, Stephen Roberts Lecture Theatre! Well, we have known for some time now. That the Stephen Roberts Lecture Theatre, gathering point for our group of University friends and also our namesake ( The Stephen Roberts Foundation. Was slated for demolition. And here you can see the desolate, rubble-strewn wasteland that previously held our gatherings, handball courts and other such non-study related activities&#...

http://whoneedsreaders.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Audiences are for suckers! Welcome to the blog that nobody reads. Friday, April 28, 2006. Biggest Loser. Literally! Well, I suppose we should all be congratulating Adro for "winning" Australia's first series of Biggest Loser, the show that teaches everyone that if you can't loose 15kg in a week you deserve to be treated like crap by your teammates. Make a note of the fact that they have been outside for several months in some cases, I'll come back to it. Naturally, Harry doesn't go below the bottom line,...
