Encouraging Words for Beginners. No alcohol, firearms, profanity, drugs, or otherwise inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. No aerials on the social dance floor (with the exception during performances). Low dips are also discouraged due the risk of injury. HSDS is an all volunteer-run organization with weekly lessons and social dancing that has become an important part of the Houston arts community. Swing is more than a dance. Swing is an attitude. It's music. It's jazzy and romantic. It's flying high and getting low. It's hep, it's hip, it's cool. And it's now. In Harlem, New York, in the 1920s, a dance evolved with the jazzy Big Band swing music of the era.
