I have been helping a co-worker friend with identifying plants and trees for his 'new to him' house so it has been fun and he has also gotten enthused about these knock out rose bushes. Everytime he does something new (like traveling by bus away from me) I find I revert to worrying mother mode. Does that ever end? Vacation is over - but more excitement coming! A place for sharing my passions - family, quilting, decorating and community service. Thursday, August 18, 2011. Where has the summer gone? I can hardly believe it's the end of August already. We had so much rain this summer it was a LONG growing season for the grass, but really limited the time we had to just 'enjoy' the weather. It was also record-setting hot in Chicago this year so if it wasn't too wet outside - it was too hot to be out there! So he won't see this! Quilting - not a lot of activity....

And better than just a weekend is a three day weekend. I love my job too, but I do work hard all week - burning brain cells. And I need my weekends to rest and recover. So in computer speak - which is often used at my house - you know binary is all ones and zeroes. So you are either a one or a zero - there is no middle ground - there is no average - or moderation - just a one or a zero. Eat no fat - eat no carbs - eat no sugar -! Tuesday, 19 April 2011. You know, nothing for ages then 2 come along at once! So here is yet another blog post! This little Bird House altered with metal was spotted just after I'd made it by a very talented friend of ours, Maria Slovakova, an artist, poet, performer and all round amazing person. She is releasing her first record shortly and asked me to make a series of these, all slightly different, to animate for a video, how cool. Is that, and how chuffed am I. I so love these, I really do!

Friday, 22 April 2011. I finally got this box finished as a very belated Birthday present for a friend. I used texture paste through a screen to create the pattern effect which was coloured with spray inks, wax and copper leaf. She was also leaving her job and developing her art practice in photography and jewelery making so I added a did this smaller box, using the same screen and gold texture over metallic turquoise paint as a good luck gift. Friday, 7 January 2011. I have no idea where time goes, one minute it's Easter, then you are wondering where Summer went, then you are caught up in the rush of Christmas and suddenly it's a whole new year.
