St Andrew's Reads the Bible

St Andrew's Reads the Bible. Thursday, August 15, 2013. I am just amazed by how typical this story can be. That Esther would have to be reminded that her privilege would not shield her from being killed, the fact that someone as powerful as Haman could be so upset by one person not showing him the respect he believed he deserved, and the whole thing of Haman choosing a reward for the person he most despised- it was just all too typical. There's something almost like a romance in this one. It's such a pow...

St Andrew's Reads the Bible: March 2013

http://standrewsbible.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

St Andrew's Reads the Bible. Friday, March 29, 2013. It is pretty neat that much of these holidays are still observed today. I wonder why blasphemy got such a bad rap. I'm not saying its good, but how did it come to be punishable by death? Again I think it best to let the story speak for itself. Thursday, March 28, 2013. And how exactly does one come to have crushed testicles? I can't say why, but I like this one. And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations.". Day 43, March 27. The rhythm o...

St Andrew's Reads the Bible: February 2013

http://standrewsbible.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

St Andrew's Reads the Bible. Thursday, February 28, 2013. I'm unsure what to make of the story of Joseph. What are we supposed to take away from this story? That we should listen to our dreams? That God gives each of us gifts? Mostly, I find myself aware of how God has a bigger picture than we do. what must those years have been like for Joseph- waiting in prison, living without his family? Little did he know that there was something wonderful around the corner. Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Joseph does ...

St Andrew's Reads the Bible: May 2013

http://standrewsbible.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

St Andrew's Reads the Bible. Thursday, May 30, 2013. Somehow a medium doesn't seem like it should work? Does this woman have a gift from God? If so, why was it outlawed? All the A names get confusing. It doesn't help that David seems to be on both sides. I do like his generosity and faithfulness though. Another battle psalm that I can't relate to. Isn't this the second time Peter escaped prison with an angels help? You'd think they'd learn their lesson. And why didn't an angel rescue James? A city, huh?
