Monday, January 21, 2013. I received a call from ASCAP on January 8th to tell me I had received an Award of Special Distinction in this year's Rudolph Nissim Foundation Competition for Tides. A 20 minute setting of Matthew Arnold's Dover Beach. For contralto, antiphonal brass, organ and orchestra. The Nissim Competition is held yearly, open to works requiring a conductor by writer members of ASCAP. This year there were over 250 entries, with one cash prize and 2 special awards. The California Guitar Trio.
