Stan Getz - The Sound. PIONEER OF COOL, BOSSA NOVA and MODERN JAZZ. Stan Getz was born at St. Vincent's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Feb. 2, 1927. He had one brother, Robert, who was born on October 30, 1932. His parents had come from the Kiev area in the Ukraine. On February 16, 1940, his Dad bought him a $35.00 alto saxophone. Stan was 13. There is no privacy left in the world. Uncle sam is always looking over our shoulders. It seems like everything is controlled anymore. I went to Florida recenly and found out that all of the restaurants in Florida were non-smoking by state law. Is it me or is this an infringement on someone's civil lberties?
