Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Nature Study at the Zoo. We started our afternoon, as we always start our day at the zoo, with the giraffes. Rafiki, the male bull, was in time-out while we were there. He had been swinging his head around at people, so he was put in a time out. I was explaining to Brian and Sean that Rafiki didn't obey, so he was in time-out. After Animal Adventures, we went over to the Alligator/Crocodile Feeding. It was such a neat experience! Learning and fun.it's what this is all ab...

Tuesday, November 11, 2008. In honor of all of the soldiers that have served or are serving to protect our way of life, the boys and I are going to create a care package to send to one of my high school friends whom I just reconnected with via Facebook. Brian and Sean were fascinated with the picture of my friend in his uniform. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Prayer of a Homeschooling Mother. The Kelly's Korner: Family Cradle

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2009/07/family-cradle.html

Sunday, July 12, 2009. Many years ago, my great-great grandfather, James B. Brennan built a cradle for his children to sleep in. I'm not sure that he knew when he built this cradle how special it would become in the lives of his progeny. The first child to sleep in this cradle was my great grandfather, James Sands Brennan. He was followed by his siblings, Marian, Harold and William. The fourth generation of children to sleep in this cradle were: the children of Gene and Diana McDonald - Cindy (that's me!

The Kelly's Korner: May 2009

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 09, 2009. Motherhood and the Chalice. MOTHERHOOD AND THE CHALICE. A good mother’s life is like a chalice. It is a precious vessel dedicated in the deepest. Sense to the service of God. Sometimes, as with the chalice,. Its depths are glowing with the wine of joy. And sometimes it feels the tiny splash of a few drops. Of water that fall into it like tears. Like a chalice, too, sometimes it is lifted up. And sometimes brought low. But always it is sanctified by the Presence,. PRAYER TO ST ANNE.

The Kelly's Korner: April 2009

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 07, 2009. Today we began working with Benjamin's Box in anticipation of Easter. The book really held the boys' attention, which was nice. I liked how it told the story of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday all the way through to his resurrection from the grave - all from the perspective of a little boy. I think that helped Brian and Sean connect with the story. Finally, we made our own treasure box, just like Benjamin. We started off cutting some "straw" to line the ...

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 26, 2009. Fun with Presidents, Geography and Math. Ever since the election, Brian has become obsessed with the presidents. I have had to find coloring pages of each of the presidents.he carries them around with him. He has conversations with them. I've gotten a book, Yo, Millard Fillmore. So I have decided to capitalize on his enthusiasm. I created this little game today that combines the presidents, some geography and wrapped up with a nice little bow of math. The Kelly's Korner: September 2008

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. I helped put on a retreat for my church 2 weeks ago. When Chris picked me up at the end the day of Sunday I was totally exhausted. But, we had to go to the grocery store to get the fixings to have Family Pizza Night! See, while I was at church on Saturday night, Chris ordered pizza for he and the boys. Now, as you have probably gathered from other posts, my boys are a wee bit. Daddy was in charge of "rolling" out the dough. Sean was in charge of the cheese. We went over to Unc...

The Kelly's Korner: February 2009

http://kellysklassroomkorner.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 08, 2009. I just came across this prayer at The Homeschool Classroom. As I pray daily to make the right decisions for my children and our family, this prayer really hit home for me. I want to teach my students how. To live this life on earth. To face its struggles and its strife. And to improve their worth. Not just the lesson in a book. Or how the rivers flow. But, how to chose the proper path. Wherever they may go. To understand eternal truth. And know right from wrong. Saint of the Day.
