From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 26 May 1963 (age 53). Born 26 May 1963) is an English poet, playwright and novelist. On 19 June 2015, Armitage was elected Oxford Professor of Poetry. Pamphlets and limited editions. Selected television and radio works. Armitage was born in Huddersfield. And grew up in the village of Marsden. Armitage first studied at Colne Valley High School. And went on to study geography at Portsmouth Polytechnic. He was a post-graduate student at the University of Manchester.
