Laquo; January 2008. February 05, 2008. Why it’s So Important to Buy Fresh and Buy Local. It’s something I wish more people were passionate about: where their food comes from. Whether you shop at your local Hy-Vee (Midwest), Giant, Safeway, or even Whole Foods our eyes should be much more on the skeptic side than quick to trust. Why? In a Washington Post. That’s why I’ve made a choice to get my produce from local farmers Randy and Chris Treichler ( Star Hollow Farms. In Pennsylvania). To me, they are...

Sustainable in the City. Local food. In DC. On a budget. Where to Find Food. Spring in Full Swing. April 22, 2010 2 Comments. I have received my first bunch of asparagus from Star Hollow. And this means one thing only to me- SPRING IS HERE! Despite the cold snaps and off and on rain and sunshine, I am fully optimistic for the coming season. I like to think all that snow has nourished and moisturized the sleeping soil, and that it is now awake and ready to start producing all kinds of delicious bounty.
