Margaret's State House Blog

Thursday, June 24, 2010. View from On High. I was in the Capitol City most of yesterday, for a legislative leadership meeting as well as another special legislative tour of the State House. I've taken- and given- lots of tours there.and this one was truly special because the Visitor Center director (a constituent of mine) offered to take us up to the Dome.which is restricted. I've been up there once and ever since have longed to return. Posing with the Dome. It was very windy and my little skirt was ...

Margaret's State House Blog: Voting for the Budget

http://statehousestories.blogspot.com/2009/06/voting-for-budget.html

Thursday, June 25, 2009. Voting for the Budget. To Our Constituents,. In a historic achievement, this budget fully funds educational adequacy. For us this was a priority, as 2 of our 3 District 8 towns (Pittsfield and Allenstown) were Claremont lawsuit plaintiffs. We hope that increased aid (adequacy and catastrophic) alleviates adverse municipal impacts, given that so much of our property tax is directed towards school funding. Despite regrettable hardships imposed on certain groups and cuts to programs...

Margaret's State House Blog: October 2008

http://statehousestories.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 19, 2008. Wednesday, October 1, 2008. September Trip to Washington, DC. Not long after the Primary Election, I had the opportunity to spend a week in our nation's Capitol. The weather was perfect for exploring familiar areas and enjoying the incredible and iconic architecture. I spent one of the best days cruising the Potomac River to Mount Vernon. Soon after the boat left the dock, there was a wonderful view of the Washington Monument. The front of the house. View from On High.

Margaret's State House Blog: July 2008

http://statehousestories.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 19, 2008. Pittsfield Old Home Day. The weather was hot and muggy, but there was a good crowd and some wonderful floats at Pittsfield's Old Home Day. The District 8 Representatives were there- in our award-winning 1970 Cadillac convertible. This year's theme was South of the Border. Love that Mexican piñata! The Pittsfield Players' float: Mexican dancing! As always, a well-attended, thoroughly enjoyable event! Friday, July 4, 2008. And a very beautiful one, too. View from On High.

Margaret's State House Blog: Spawning

http://statehousestories.blogspot.com/2009/06/spawning.html

Wednesday, June 17, 2009. As Vice Chair of the Fish and Game and Marine Resources Committee, I'm pretty excited about today's fish encounter! I'm at our lake cottage with my dogs on a gorgeous sunny day, with the air pleasantly cool. After our usual walk on arrival, we headed down to the dock. I needed to clean the water filter down at the pump and I wanted to throw a worm to Walter my fish. Walter was busy. With Mrs. Walter. I caught them in the act- of spawning. Clearly he thinks she's hot.
