See more at austindlight.com. I’ve been trying to get into Bobby Chiu’s digital painting class at Schoolism.com. The class comes at a great time too. I should be finished with. Fuddle Learns To Cuddle. By May 10, so I’ll be free to concentrate on my class assignments. Speaking of Fuddle, the organization I’m illustrating the book for just got a new website. See more at austindlight.com. Digital Painting Lesson 3: Textures, Part One. I’m taking a course at. This week’s lesson was the beginning of a two part lecture on textures. One of the things I love about this class is that Bobby takes the time to show us multiple ways of doing things. In this lesson we learned how to paint a black and white image (using similar methods from our first lesson) with a cross hatch texture. Here is the original sketch from Bobby, and my finished work. Date : July 2, 2009.

See more at austindlight.com. Digital Painting Lesson 1: Visualizing Through Darkness. I’m taking a course at. Lesson 1: Visualizing Through Darkness. In this lesson we were supplied with a sketch of an over-the-top muscle man and we were instructed to paint him using a palette of five grayscale tones. Using low opacity and flow settings on the brush tool, we had to make multiple light and dark passes until the original sketch was gone and only our painting remained. Is that a coat rack? In the next less...

See more at austindlight.com. Digital Painting Lesson 5: The Smudge Technique. This week was all about the smudge tool, that little finger icon over on the toolbar that smears pixels around. I’ve toyed with the smudge tool before, but I’ve never found a real practical use for it–turns out, I just wasn’t using it right. Before we started using the tool, we had to get it set the way Bobby uses it. He provided this handy chart for the settings below. The smudge tool did most of the paint and shading work, b...

See more at austindlight.com. Digital Painting Lesson 4: Textures, Part Two. Instead of painting with textures like we did in lesson three, this lesson was about applying textures to a painting. Bobby gave us a rough painting and we had to finish it with the textures he supplied. Below you’ll see the rough painting we were given and my finished product. When I started this lesson and saw Bobby’s finished product,. Laquo; Digital Painting Lesson 3: Textures, Part One. Date : July 10, 2009. I like the inte...

See more at austindlight.com. Digital Painting Lesson 7: Vector Art. This lesson was a fun one because I’ve always had an interest in vector art. What’s kept me from acting on that interest has been the pen tool. I hate the pen tool. Correction, I. The pen tool. Now I love it, and it’s all thanks to Bobby. And then blowing as hard as he can to keep it away. I gave myself four stars on this one because I wasn’t sure what to do after adding the balloon. Staying Afloat Mom | One Mom, Trying To Stay Afloat
One Mom, Trying To Stay Afloat. The Minnie Series: MNSSHP. October 10, 2014. I was a skeptic about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Why would I pay extra to gain access to the same park I have already been to at night? I could buy a lot of candy for $130, so free candy wasn’t exactly a motivator. I was wrong. So wrong. This also meant we could use Fastpass for the 3 hours before the party started. [Fastpasses aren't used during the party.]. Ok, onto the actual party. We went on a Thursday, in t...
staying ahead | Just another WordPress.com site
Just another WordPress.com site. February 24, 2011. It seems very clear that the future of UK schools lies within the art of collaboration. The extent to which the current ‘beat your neighbour’ culture of schools will hinder this is another question entirely. We would question the climate for collaboration. Staying Ahead has been actively promoting collaboration in the UK. One thing that has become very apparent through our work is that collaboration is very much a ‘relative concept’ and ...

Staying Ahead all the time
Staying Ahead all the time. Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Five Wines to Drink Instead of Cabernet Sauvignon. Could be said to be the grandfather of all black grapes. It is certainly one of the most consumed and lauded grapes and as a main component of the blend in Bordeaux, is also one of the most sought after and expensive. Cabernet Franc, France. Italy strikes again with this splendid grape, but sadly, far too people are aware of it. The wines are deeply colored with rich, dense flavors of plums, cof...
