St Ayles Rowing Club. The Coastal Rowing Project came about by a happy coincidence of ideas. The build of the prototype went really well and the "Chris o' Kanaird" was officially launched on the 31st of October 2009 at the Scottish Fisheries Museum starting off the whole coastal rowing ethos, after an attempt set for the 25th had to be abandoned due to bad weather. We’ve laid out the rowing race course to give spectators on the prom a great view of the races on Saturday 30th July. Bringing rowing back to Portobello. What to wear and bring. Get wet, probably up to your knees. Wear stuff that can get wet on your feet and legs. Old trainers, sandals, Crocs etc. Not wellies, they will get full of water. You should also bring:. A bottle of drinking water. Warm clothing to put on afterwards. A waterproof bag or case for your phone – or leave it behind. We don’t have any changing facilities, but you can change and shower at Portobello Swim Centre for a small charge. Sign up via BigTent.
