Brigid's mantle: Prayers for Seekers
http://stbrigidsmantle.blogspot.com/2014/08/for-seekers.html
Celtic Christian reflections, prayers and blessings for the holy ordinary moments of life. Monday, 25 August 2014. Maybe there is something in the air of late summer. In the turning of the leaves, the over-blowing of the flowers and the ripening fruit that creates a restlessness. In the excited gatherings of starlings across the telephone lines and skeins of geese pointing the way to pastures and waters new. How we are to traverse the darkening days is something we need to consider and act upon. Perh...
Brigid's mantle: Blessing of Brigid
http://stbrigidsmantle.blogspot.com/2013/01/blessing-of-brigid.html
Celtic Christian reflections, prayers and blessings for the holy ordinary moments of life. Saturday, 31 January 2015. St Brigid - February 1st. Brigid, the saint of hospitality, has many blessings already and the custom of clearing the winter vapours and renewing the spiritual air with a house blessing sealed with a handmade Brigid's Cross is one I have held to for years. Another blessing will never go amiss. The hand of the Creator God bless this home. In its making and its keeping. And the Mother rests.
Brigid's mantle: September 2014
http://stbrigidsmantle.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Celtic Christian reflections, prayers and blessings for the holy ordinary moments of life. Friday, 19 September 2014. As the seasons turn into this time of mists and mellow fruitfulness, the Autumn Equinox this weekend takes us into a time for celtic reflection. The Celts honored this Sabbat by the harvest of apples; this is particularly the last few days for the harvesting of fruits. The fruits, wines and gatherings of the summer are shared in thankfulness for the life-giving harvest of this year; o...

Celtic Christian reflections, prayers and blessings for the holy ordinary moments of life. Sunday, 31 August 2014. Feast of St Aidan - Flame of the North. Aidan - Flame of the North. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Today sees the feast day of St Aidan and a week of celebrating the the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne and her saints. For a wonderful account of the life of Aidan see Canon Kate Tristam's article here. This year was the first year that I made the crossing on foot - in bare f...
Brigid's mantle: April 2014
http://stbrigidsmantle.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Celtic Christian reflections, prayers and blessings for the holy ordinary moments of life. Wednesday, 30 April 2014. After the auspices of the Red Moon we are presently awaiting sighting (through blanketing cloud and morning mists) of the new moon that will lead us into a particular moment of liminal space; long known as Beltane. The Rowan or Hawthorn blossoms of clusters of small white flowers represent the explosion of life in the woodlands; both trees are also known as May trees. They are particul...

schiavi: 100 Re memberings
http://schiavi.blogspot.com/2014/08/re-membering.html
Words in motion; gathered from the day. Monday, 9 November 2015. One hundred years later we remember - at the going down of the sun. At the going down of the sun they arise - re-membering. Those who fell unforgotten, those unnamed, unfound. Shaking the ethereal dust from serge and Bedford corded trousers,. Smoothing the lines in greyback flannel shirts. Absentmindedly polishing brass buttons on the palms of their hand. Easing off the bandoliers long empty of ammunition. To knees and elbows. And in the to...

Words in motion; gathered from the day. Friday, 20 December 2013. Winter Solstice - Shadows. Sometimes, it seems the light is too bright to bear. Sometimes, it seems the dark has worries of it's own. Sometimes, it seems the stars are the only ones watching. Sometimes, it seems the world turns without you. Sometimes, the best way to face your fears. Is to sit down and eat with them. And know that God is in the shadows. Antiphon of Advent - Wisdom. Flowing from the mouth of the Most High;. Do you not know.
schiavi: Twilight Zone
http://schiavi.blogspot.com/2013/05/twilight-zone.html
Words in motion; gathered from the day. Sunday, 24 August 2014. Driving from there to here. Under a fleecing of dark cloud. The horizon glimmering gold. Frantic heartbeat of tyre on tarmac. Juddering through arterial paths. Counting the space between. Funereal stancions of guarding light. Regard the stars with disdain. Into a broken sigh. Let go a glimmer of sorrow. Cheek to jaw - then letting fall. To the Twilight Zone. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Word in the Hand - Gospel Reflections.
