He · rage · of · 1000 · suns, · the · light · of · a · million · stars. Chez Lang, and Howe! Adventures in the ancestral homeland! My mother, who had an endless supply of proverbs and standard expressions, always said better late than never. So:. After more than 13 years in this neighborhood. After five years in this apartment. After nearly two and a half years with Bob. Bob and I are taking the ultimate plunge. We’re combining book collections. And now, I’m overdue for a much-needed nap! On November 25t...

More Domestic Bliss in Brooklyn, or Fun with Fuses - The rage of 1000 suns, the light of a million stars
http://eleanor.livejournal.com/210688.html
He · rage · of · 1000 · suns, · the · light · of · a · million · stars. More Domestic Bliss in Brooklyn, or Fun with Fuses. I should note that in my previous Brooklyn apartment, the hair dryer and the coffee maker could not be used at the same time, and it was a much older house (from the 1880s) with much newer wiring, but that is irrelevant to today’s adventure, except that I think hinky wiring is part of the Brooklyn experience. You see where this is going? Blew a fuse. What to do? Stay tuned for the n...

I voted. Did you? - The rage of 1000 suns, the light of a million stars
http://eleanor.livejournal.com/209878.html
He · rage · of · 1000 · suns, · the · light · of · a · million · stars. I voted. Did you? T 6 AM this morning. My polling place in Manhattan had a line down the block and around the corner, and it took 45 minutes to get through the line, to the (reassuringly old-school) poll and cast my ballot. I've never seen anything like it, and I'm proud to be an American, privileged to have voted. On November 4th, 2008 02:54 pm (UTC). I voted. Did you? No, but only because it would be highly illegal. :) However,.

Welcome to Brooklyn. Now stay. - The rage of 1000 suns, the light of a million stars
http://eleanor.livejournal.com/210180.html
He · rage · of · 1000 · suns, · the · light · of · a · million · stars. Welcome to Brooklyn. Now stay. Tells me so. And of course, we have those feral Quakers. In truth, as much as I might enjoy the notion of particularly intense and silent worshippers stalking the streets, these are small and very pretty parrots. I lived in Brooklyn before, and there were things I knew before moving back again, to live with Bob:. If Brooklyn was an independent city, rather than one of New York’s five boroughs, it would ...

Huang Bac Pac: harmonicanotes
http://harmonicanotes.livejournal.com/21273.html
David del norte (. I'd like to have a complete set of diatonics, but cost is an issue for me. I've come across a complete set of harps for a relatively low price. The brand name is Huang, supposedly the product of two former Hohner employees and harmonica virtuosos. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here has ever played a Huang and what they thought of the product. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. As a part of my new years' resolution and whathaveyou, I've decided…: harmonicanotes
http://harmonicanotes.livejournal.com/20855.html
As a part of my new years' resolution and whathaveyou,. I've decided I'm going to learn how to play the Harmonica. I can play the piano and guitar already, how hard is the Harmonica to learn? Books/sites that I can learn from on my own? Best brand/where to buy/price? How do I know where to get one from; do I just phone around? I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, if anyone wants to help. EDIT: They come in different notes, what do I pick? Post a new comment. We will log you in after post.

Paul deLay, 1952 - 2007: harmonicanotes
http://harmonicanotes.livejournal.com/21069.html
Paul deLay, 1952 - 2007. One of my favorite modern harmonica players died this week. From leukemia at the age of 55. Paul deLay never made it big, although no harmonica player in the country worth his salt hasn't heard of him. Unlike so many tired recyclers of riffs and songs from the 1950s, deLay wrote his own songs, played in a distinctive style, and sang wonderfully in his own voice and accent. In the mid-1990s, when. Amplification: harmonicanotes
http://harmonicanotes.livejournal.com/21603.html
I've begun to listen to more electric harmonica lately, in recent months discovering players like Charlie Musselwhite, and generally running across more YouTube wizards with electicity and whatnot. And while I'm in no shape to be playing in front of anyone but myself this year, I am interested in discovering the amplified sound and personal, portable methods of making it. Do those little crystal shaker mics suck? When you sneak an effects pedal inline, (or is that blasphemy? What do you use? All this and...
