witsendmagazine.com: He Was A Good Robot, Apparently
http://witsendmagazine.blogspot.com/2015/08/he-was-good-robot-apparently.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. He Was A Good Robot, Apparently. We just want to remember the good times," the team behind the project said in a prepared statement. They hope hitchBot's friends and family will do the same. Just remember the good times. The team ended the prepared statement with these wise words, "Sometimes bad things happen to good robots.". And as Mr. Rogers often said, "Sometimes good people do bad things.". There's so much to think about here. I'll keep you posted. The paths we choose.

witsendmagazine.com: First Harvest
http://witsendmagazine.blogspot.com/2015/08/first-harvest.html
Thursday, August 13, 2015. Here's what's in the bowl: okra, collard greens, kale, Napa cabbage, potatoes, and a very small carrot picked by mistake while I was pulling a weed. I harvested the potatoes out of curiousity. They could probably wait awhile. Last night I sauteed in olive oil everything harvested except the okra which will soon play a key role in a gumbo. The apple tree went into some sort of shock. I'm hoping recovery will come with spring. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). We Can Do It.

Saturday, December 27, 2014. Torah Thoughts on Vayigash – Family Secrets. In this week’s Torah portion, Vayigash (Gen. 44:18 – 47:27), the family secrets that have been going on throughout the story of Joseph come to an end. Joseph’s brothers come to buy food in Egypt and face Pharaoh’s vizier, who they do not recognize as their brother Joseph. After a series of cat-and-mouse games, Joseph finally reveals his identity to his brothers. Family secrets sow seeds of pain, guilt, confusion and anger. Saturday...

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Getting Closer To Garden. Two raised beds down a however many my lumber allows to go. If everything goes according to schedule, I should be ready to plant seeds within two weeks. This is all an experiment. I'm learning as I go. I think one of my biggest challenges will be to discourage squirrels and deer from eating everything just as fast as it comes up. I'm hoping the split rail fence I'm putting up will help out with the deer. I'll keep you posted. Friday, April 24, 2015.

Friday, February 27, 2015. Torah Thoughts on Tetzaveh. This week’s Torah portion, Tetzaveh (Ex. 27:20 – 30:10) begins with the description of the ner tamid. The perpetual, or regular, light that burned in the Mishkan, the tabernacle in the wilderness. In the Torah’s instruction, the light is to burn “from evening to morning” (Ex. 27:21). In modern day synagogues, the ner tamid. Is an eternal light and it is kept burning all the time. When fire exceeds the boundaries of safety, it destroys and it kills.

Here's my most recent Huffington Post Blog -. The long New Jersey winter is finally finished. Even on these hot, summer days, though, my thoughts turn to winter and its many lessons some of which I may have actually learned. At the very least I had many opportunities for learning. Alan also reminded me that the fact...

Friday, September 26, 2014. Prophetic Thoughts on Ha’azinu. This week’s Torah portion, Ha’azinu (Deut. 32:1-32) is a song of Moses. The Israelites’ journey in the wilderness began with the Song of the Sea as they escaped the Egyptian chariots by a miracle of God. Now, forty years later they stand in the wilderness, poised to enter the Promised Land without Moses, their leader, teacher and intermediary with God. But Tashlich is freeing; it is an unburdening. Friday, September 19, 2014. This week’s T...
