Steffblogg: October 2014

http://steffpeople.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

We've been here for seven months, and we still talk about New York. I figured NYC would be a distant memory by now, but Olli and I regularly say things like "Aw, I miss " or "do you remember when we? Man, that was great." We make a lot of comparisons, sometimes to the detriment of Frankfurt - say, when I want to run a couple errands on a Sunday and TOO BAD, because nothing is open on Sunday. nothing. Some things catch us off guard though, and give us moments of "you mean life can be like this. The bushes...

Steffblogg: The kids over here

http://steffpeople.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-kids-over-here.html

The kids over here. We had the little man's 4 year checkup today, our first official checkup in Germany. Nils did great - hopped on one foot like a champ, properly identified all the pictures on the vision chart, weighed in at 17 kilos. He named all the colors they asked him to, identified and properly enunciated a slew of pictures, and drew a person. Actually, there was a problem with the person. I don't want to.". Sweetie, just draw a person. Can you draw the head? I come across a lot of things like th...

Steffblogg: April 2014

http://steffpeople.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

We have moved to a decidedly smaller city. There is a park near our apartment, maybe 10 minutes by foot. Gunthersburg Park. It is beautiful. Big and green, with different sections cordoned off for this and that, and surrounded by the beautiful houses of the neighborhood of Bornheim. Nils, Liv and I visit the playground once or twice a week, and today we also stopped for a greek yogurt and a coffee at the park's outdoor cafe. We heard. "You can live a good life in Frankfurt." Really? Did our needs change?

Steffblogg: March 2015

http://steffpeople.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

We've been here for a year now. A year! I feel totally immersed in and simultaneously completely removed from the culture here. That's what happens when your German skills are at the intermediate level, I suppose. I've collected a few observations. mind if I share them? 1 Closed for Urlaub. Okay, so it's a given that Sundays are a little painful here. The shops are all closed, most of the restaurants are closed. the country basically shuts down. I love this, because yes! To the park / playground, perhaps?

Steffblogg: And just like that, it was easier

http://steffpeople.blogspot.com/2015/05/and-just-like-that-it-was-easier.html

And just like that, it was easier. We didn't do a lot of traveling last year. On the one hand: duh, of course. We had a three year old and a one year old, we had just moved overseas and had to assemble a household, we were brand new to Frankfurt and had to orient ourselves in many ways. But on the other hand, what a shame. As I've said before, we're not here forever. (Another shame, but that's a whole other post) We'll probably never live here again (at least, not until the kids go to college? Keep an ey...

No Time For New Stuff!: December 2014

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Out With the Old, In With the New.Year! While the world is out partying tonight, I will be home relaxing. Maybe even reflecting. With gratefulness in my heart I will be celebrating my singlehood tonight. I really do love my life and where God has me. I genuinely could not wish for anything more than what I have right now. I am content, yet expectant. Settled, yet ready for whatever adventure may lie ahead. Bring it, 2015. Posted by Miss Taken. Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

No Time For New Stuff!: The List

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2015/02/this-list.html

Friday, February 6, 2015. On the back of my front door there is a dry erase board. And on that board I write my to-do lists. Currently, the board says:. My task, tomorrow, is to go through the entire bathroom and kitchen, and purge. Throw out any expired items or items I am not using. Organize spices, baking items and canned goods. Check the baskets of onions to toss out the ones with new growth. Wash and put dishes away. And if, IF, there is time, clean. I notice that my TVs are dusty, so I clean. Water...

No Time For New Stuff!: January 2015

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. My sister needed to fast for an insurance test offered through Walgreens this past weekend. She was so hungry that she needed to keep herself busy to try *not* thinking about food. She wasn't. Starving though. It's just that whole concept of being told that you can't do something so it becomes the only thing you want to do. It rules your thoughts and emotions out of nowhere. And to the point that even *doing* that thing isn't satisfactory. So why? Why are we programed like this?

No Time For New Stuff!: Shoe Nation

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2015/01/shoe-nation.html

Wednesday, January 7, 2015. 8220;I really think guys only need two pairs of shoes. A nice pair of black shoes and a pair of Chuck Taylors.”. 8213; Mindy Kaling,. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? It is humiliating and humbling to have an. Count of how many pairs of shoes I own. And the truth of the matter is that I just strolled through the clutter and counted what I could see. Odds are that there are a few more pairs hidden in boxes or even in bins out in the shed. Oh the humanity! I began this challe...

No Time For New Stuff!: February 2015

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 16, 2015. As for me and my challenge; it's going quite well! I find myself ready to purge more items than I'd imagined I would. Now the thought of 10 towels seems excessive. I have one person, me, and only one bathroom. All I need are a few towels for me and a guest. That's it. Time to purge! Yet I find myself waiting. Focusing on towels is an afterthought to the stacks of mess I still have. One thing at a time, Woman! And possibly toss on Bridget Jone's Diary. Now, Valentine's Day like ...

No Time For New Stuff!: S e l a h

http://notimefornewstuff.blogspot.com/2015/01/selah.html

Wednesday, January 21, 2015. God has created me to be a reflective person. I enjoy being up on stage in front of masses, yes. But on my down time, I like to be on my own. Or in the company of one or two good people. I thrive when I am able to reflect, write, and rest. 1 I never want to define myself in confining terms regarding this. I don't need them! Perhaps this will be the greatest thing I learn from this - what is actual need. Just because something is new does not mean I need it. I find now...Use I...

The Way I See It: October 2012

Tuesday, October 2, 2012. I need to not suck at updating this! Posted by Miss Taken. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Bit About Me. And dream of being a published author one day. I love the smell of fresh air and clean laundry; cement just after the first drops of rain, and babies. I dress like a tomboy because I like being comfortable, but truth be told I would love more than anything to wear dresses and aprons all the time, like Donna Reed. The cat who actually. I noticed that every person at a certain point of his life starts to have doubts about what he`s doing, doesn`t feel anymore comfortable in his skin and has to review completely his life. I had that moment almost 2 years ago…and with doubts arrived the depression. I had to take a kind of sabbatical period, but not for my choice….
