Monday, June 20, 2011. The perils of cleaning. We're just back home after several days in Jerusalem. Even when we're not here, the house gets dirty. Sandy, to be more precise. I must have swept a quart of sand off our patio (which is outside) and about half that from inside the house. But I was really surprised by this guy who skittered out from under my broom. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Masada, the second time. Rebekah at 100m below sea level. Note the Dead Sea in the background, far below. Looking down at the Snake Path from the cable car. The museum is excellent, telling the story of Masada as you walk through life-size models of people in several rooms showing what life would have been like. Cases of artifacts are mixed in. Monday, June 13, 2011. Making Bread in the Desert. In Miriam’s recent blog. On our stay at Beerotayim, she told about the camel ride we went for, as well as the lunch our guides prepared for us (with our help. As Miriam noted, that lunch included bread cooked up on the spot). That bread was not only delicious, but it also was quite typical of flat breads that have been cooked in this region for numerous millennia. He then placed the dough directly on the ashes of the fire and covered it up with more ashes.

Saturday, March 26, 2011. We Visit a Bedouin Tent. This adventure starts with us hiking down into the dry river valley near our house, which we've shown in numerous pictures in earlier blog posts, and up the other side. To get up on the plateau we take a trail known as the Divshon Ascent. Here's the view looking up as we hike up the trail. Here's a picture I took of Miriam while on our way up the Divshon Ascent. There are just a few parties in the tent, but as you can see, Majdeline has room for many more.

Monday, February 28, 2011. Life is fab here in ארץ ישרעל. Erets yisrael for those non Hebrew readers). Today at school I gave a presentation on my old school. I got to bring in a cake for afterward. It was the best homemade chocolate cake you have ever tasted. My mom, my sister and I made them frantically last night. So, back to the news. We are making plans to go to the Dead Sea next week, and float! Or in Hebrew סבב (sababa it means cool)! I sn't this the best blog post ever? You just have to admit it!
