Love Letters: January 2010
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 26, 2010. It is very rare that I comment on movies or such things like that, but here in the past few posts the movie industry has come up. However, this time I highly recommend a visual production entitled, No Greater Love. This is a Lionsgate. Production and comes with a 4 out of 5 for family friendliness from the Dove Foundation. It was honest, fresh, very well done, and tastefully, yet vividly emotional. Believers and Unbelievers being married? I encourage you to watch it. I thin...

Love Letters: How To Raise Boys That Read
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2010/09/how-to-raise-boys-that-read.html
Friday, September 24, 2010. How To Raise Boys That Read. Recently I was reading a blog by Justin Taylor. That obviously for me stood out. I am the very proud father of four boys. My wife and I have a boy that absolutely loves to read and another boy that truly struggles to spend time in a book. Justin Taylor references an article he found in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal. Everyone agrees that if boys don't read well, it's because they don't read enough. But why don't they read? For elementary- ...

Love Letters: July 2010
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 9, 2010. Well, the timing of my week has been mismatching the available moments to drag out the mower and actually cut that lush blanket of green stuff that needed to be brought under control. So(getting to the "wow").I woke this morning knowing that again I would have no time to cut it this evening and knowing that tomorrow was pretty much shot and that of course Sunday is not the day of mowing but the day of musing. That leaves Monday.NO, I am taking a van load of kids to camp! It has been...

Love Letters: September 2009
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Crazy Love (A Review). I have just finished listening to the audio book version of Crazy Love. By Francis Chan. It has been a very challenging and meditative time. Francis Chan incites us to earnestly inspect our God and His love for us. Chan also then provokes us (me) to consider how I love my God in return. How then do I demonstrate, interact, and increase my ability to love God? Tim Challies does his review. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. The phrase they took was "stand ...

Love Letters: April 2010

Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Humor From The Aged. Believe it or not, but my mother sent me this and I just wanted to share it here. Very cute and for some it is one you have heard before, but I hope it tickles a part of your funny bone today. The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.

Love Letters: August 2009
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 28, 2009. I guess for the past few days I have been very aware of some of the issues going on in our political and social spheres. Of course this impacts us. As believers we need to be aware of the times and aware of what is influencing the thinking of our neighbors and even our fellow church attendees. Notice those words, understanding of the times, to. Know what Israel ought to do. I especially love the next verse, they were not of double heart. But these men, these ones who understood t...

Friday, March 18, 2011. The End of the World! Visit msnbc.com for breaking news. And news about the economy. My mind rushes to the following passages:. Also, I place myself in that apparent minority that DOES believe the book of revelation to be true. God did forewarn that such events will happen and that this world will continue to grown under the weight of corruption brought on by sin. If he did, then he would be very careful to evaluate the situation differently. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Even thoug...

Love Letters: WHOA! Wait!
http://forthework.blogspot.com/2012/08/whoa-wait.html
Thursday, August 30, 2012. But please, bear with me here. Do we not get so easily sidetracked, and easily sideswiped by the push and pull of marketing, management, and manipulation? We all want our churches to grow, but in what and at what costs? I have struggled with why God would bring in such quality people and then usher them all over the U.S. in job moves. I have struggled with why we were seeing so much growth and now, very little. What is this all about and am I the problem? It may seem an easy th...
