Journal of Educational Robots. The STEP Competition schedule is intentionally designed to allow time for kids and teachers to capitalize on the educational potential. In STEP, kids actually have time to learn CAD, Programming, Design Process, Engineering Principles, and tools relating to Marketing. The STEP season for any given team consists of a Kickoff (last week of September), three Mini-Invitational events, and the STEP Circuit Final (late April to early May). All Hands on deck: August to November.
