kartklan capers: June 2009
http://kartklancapers.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Monday, 8 June 2009. On Saturday I facilitated a workshop at Step by Step Patchwork Centre. In South Molton on a very simplified way of piecing curves. Having completed lots of samples and a finished piece all well in advance I decided, at the last minute, like you do, to make up a "sample" of how well this technique would work for a landscape. Quilting at Westdene: July 2009
http://christine-quiltingatwestdene.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
A blog with details of quilting projects past and present, to show others what I have been up to. Monday, 6 July 2009. I pieced two backgrounds - trying to create a 'half dropped blocks' design, like the optical illusion. As I had pieced two backgrounds, I could then create 2 quilts. The first quilt I'm going to show you, is the 'senses' quilt - the one to dispute seeing is believing. My whole basis for the quilts has been - Seeing Is Believing - Really? Can that really be said? Is it really true? I used...

Quilting at Westdene: June 2011
http://christine-quiltingatwestdene.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
A blog with details of quilting projects past and present, to show others what I have been up to. Monday, 6 June 2011. I realised yesterday that I need to have a bit more of a systematic approach to my blog and the posts! Reading through previous posts, I saw that I had given one a title including the word dolls - and nothing about dolls in it, so I'm going to rectify that right now! Or is it a mob cap? I'm too young to know! I love the look of broderie anglaise - it's so feminine and pretty. The hair fo...

Quilting at Westdene: April 2010
http://christine-quiltingatwestdene.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
A blog with details of quilting projects past and present, to show others what I have been up to. Wednesday, 14 April 2010. Today's post is a big thank you to Marlene Chaffey. I have done 3 workshops by Marlene - all of them at Step by Step. I decided to show a Devon landscape in the summer - bright colours. I couldn't decide on the colour for the surround - but eventually I tried the pastel fabric, and thought that it went quite well. After that, I tried to find the right fabric for an inner bor...I hav...

Children’s Kites Design Source. Japan’s kites are among the most spectacular in the world, treasured as much for the aesthetic worth as for the pleasure they give as toys. The traditional kite consists of a light bamboo or wood frame over which is affixed paper painted with various bold motifs, ranging from faces of legendary war heroes to brilliant geometric patterns; in the hands of a skilled craftsman, the Japanese kite becomes a work of art. 8220;Bolt from Blue”.
