Sunday, May 5, 2013. After heading up North past Seattle to the tulips last week, we decided to head down South towards Portland to see some lilacs this week. I guess that's an advantage of living in Aberdeen. We're located almost halfway between those two major cities. Anyway, we didn't quite go down into Oregon, but we made it to Woodland, WA, which is about half hour away. Woodland is home to the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens, which were absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We got spoiled with a visit from Aunt Monica (my sister) the week of Cadence's birthday as my birthday and Monica's birthday are also the same week within days apart, so why not celebrate all together! For her birthday we lucked out and got a babysitter. We took her on her first BART ride over to San Francisco and had dinner on the Embarcadero water front. It was fancy and fun to get dressed up and go into town (something I very rarely get to do in the evening). My Cute Little Man.

Our campsite was just north of Truckee (maybe 5/10 minutes) and just south of Reno (maybe 20/30 minutes) overlooking the Boca Reservoir (about 4 hours from our house not counting traffic). The first day of exploring Lake Tahoe we started at Kings Beach which is the North tip of Lake Tahoe. It was beautiful here! The water was clear and super shallow for a long while, making it perfect for the kids to get comfortable and play. I love making thes...
