ghost birds: May 2011
http://ivorybillwoodpecker.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
The Ivory-bill has frequently been described as a dweller in dark and gloomy swamps, has been associated with muck and murk, has been called a melancholy bird, but it is not that at all—the Ivory-bill is a dweller of the tree tops and sunshine; it lives in the sun.in surroundings as bright as its own plumage.". James T. Tanner, 1939. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Phillip Hoose spoke at Ijams Nature Center. Oddly, when you write a book, one of the first things you have to decide is when to begin the story.

http://aintnaturegrand.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
I think it's AWESOME! Wednesday, December 10, 2008. After Holland Park I decided that Flamingo Gardens. In Davie, FL might be a good place to go. After all it is wooded and there are lots of plants and trees there. If I were a bird I would like it there. At first I didn’t find much in the way of "wild life" but I kept going as I was finding all manner of things to photograph and I was learning about our birds and getting to see some of them up close and personal and learning to ID them. Another favorite ...

Ain't Nature Grand: October 2010
http://aintnaturegrand.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
I think it's AWESOME! Thursday, October 7, 2010. I want to go Birding! I sit looking over maps and birding emails and finally decide on a plan. It probably wasn't the best plan for seeing birds but it would get me out of the house. So Sunday morning we got up grabbed our gear and some bottled water and took off. Heading for Alligator Alley. It was a beautiful sunny day and the blue sky held a few puffy white clouds floating aimlessly. Go away lady, I was here first. We drove west on Alligator Alley until...

http://aintnaturegrand.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
I think it's AWESOME! Sunday, January 24, 2010. Birding on a Whim. On a whim I decided to go to Viera Wetlands to chase down the Masked Duck that had been reported there. I don't usually do these things but Viera isn't that far and it was going to be cold this weekend and Viera is a drive through place so I said "what the heck. I can bird from the comfort of my car and just maybe pick up a lifer.". We saw a Northern Harrier and a Crested Caracara and got some decent shots of Caracara but the Harrier was ...
