BBQ and Quiz Fundraising Night. There will be a fundraiser at Holywood Rugby Club, Monday 22nd June. Have a bite to eat and then test your knowledge in the Quiz. All funds rasied in aid of the work carried out this summer by the team that is heading out mid July. Kosova Support Group | Toy Library

As part of our on going work with LiveLink Kosovo the Kosova Support Group has recently embarked on a new project in Kacanik and in Runjeve a village close to Kacanik, a Toy Library. A small committee of mums who have young children has been formed to oversee the running of the toy library. The toy library will meet in two different centres on a fortnightly basis. Merry May Day in Holywood. 6 May, 2015 3:47 pm. For the past twenty years or so Holywood has hosted May Day celebrations in the town when the community gets together to enjoy a bit of fun, young people dance around the only Maypole in Ireland, old friendships are renewed and local charities sell their wares on the numerous different stalls provided by North Down Borough Council to raise money for their various causes. The Kosova Support Group had their stall as usual selling buns, cakes, jams and plants.

There was no Easter team this year but Gail made two visits in April, one during the Easter week to visit projects and make plans for the summer team and the other between 19th and 25th April for the Palliative Care Roadshow which had been organised. Between 20th and 24th April the roadshow visited five sities in Kosova, Ferizaj, Gjakova, Peja, Prizren and Pristina and training was delivered to over 300 medical professionals. 97 Ballyregan Road, Holywood, Co. Colin and Gail Dewar set up the Kosova Support Group in March 2007 after six years volunteering on a number of projects across the Balkan territory of Kosova, a region which was still struggling to overcome the ravages of conflict that had started over thirteen years ago. In more recent years the group have delivered ambulances to four different centres in Kosova and are involved in the continuing renovation work at the Main Family Medicine Centre in Kaqanik. Since 2008 the Kosova Support Group has been working in co operation with SOS Kinderdorf’s family strengthening programme in the capital Pristina. The contribution made by the group is that of supporting families identified to them by Kinderdorf who are very poor and are in need of help whether that be the through the provision of food or help supplying medication they may require.
