words that bloom: The Process of Art-Making is a Spiritual Practice
http://stephenroach.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-process-of-art-making-is-spiritual.html
Wednesday, March 25, 2015. The Process of Art-Making is a Spiritual Practice. The process of art making is a spiritual practice. The end result is somewhat secondary. If something beautiful or edifying emerges, all the better! But it is the process itself that opens up our spirit and transforms us. Now, you may know where you want to go from the outset. Great. This may aid to eliminate thousands of unnecessary rabbit trails and dead ends, but I would only caution not to be so heavy handed as to e...When ...

words that bloom: Inspiration
http://stephenroach.blogspot.com/2014/11/inspiration.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2014. From the beginning, mankind was designed to live consistently in an inspired state marked by intimate relationship with his Inspirer. Humanity isn’t resigned to steal fire from the gods. Inspiration is a gift from an affectionate Creator. It is the beginning and sustaining breath of life. It isn’t a passing state of mind or an ethereal, cosmic force to be harnessed. For the Christian, Inspiration is a person. The Latin root from which we derive the word. Rather than a fluctuati...

words that bloom: April 2014

Sunday, April 6, 2014. Believing in God is not the miracle. The majority of people in the world believe in God or in some form of a god. Evangelical Christians spend an endless amount of resources trying to get people to encounter or to somehow come to believe in their brand of God. However, the truest conversion is not causing man to believe in God but convincing the heart of man that God believes in them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Breath and The Clay. words that bloom: Stories Are the Soul of Things
http://stephenroach.blogspot.com/2014/12/stories-are-soul-of-things.html
Thursday, December 11, 2014. Stories Are the Soul of Things. As a general rule, I try not to keep anything that doesn't have a story attached to it. Stories are the soul of things. When our bodies return to the dust we are made of, we return to the word that first uttered us into being. We ourselves become words, we become stories. All that remains are our stories. At least from earth's point of view. I found this book on the shelf and immediately took it with me. I don't know whether or not the word...

Sunday, July 5, 2015. Sing to me through hollowed pipes,. Ambassadors dressed in a thousand tongues. Let the melodies twist like vines through the grates of fences. Discreet Across borders and through the thickets that divide us still. Sing to me of love's most terrible. Sing to me what is real. A life boat floats into its icy distance. Further from this titanic of heart. Hands reach out,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Breath and The Clay. Promote Your Page Too. Check out videos from songs of water.

http://stephenroach.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Dirt, Miracles and Redemption. Dirt is at once, both common and enigmatic. We walk on it everyday of our lives. The food we eat is grown from its womb. The shrubbery and grass that beautify our homes are inseparably linked to it. Yet, for all of its commonality, dirt remains a mystery. No one really knows all that much about it. Science tells us it is stardust from exploding supernovas gathered together in mass. The bible tells us we are made from the stuff. He is the potter.

Thursday, February 27, 2014. The Preeminence of the Imagination: Part 1. Based upon this premise, when we look at God's initial interaction with mankind in the Scriptures, we find imagination and creative collaboration among the first encounters we have with him. Naming The Animals. What is fascinating though, is that even in this state, God does not stop reaching out to collaborate with mankind despite its corruption. He never gives up. He is never without mercy. He is never without a plan o...This act ...
