March 12, 2011. This morning, we got up to see Encontro das Aguas - when the Negro and Solimoes rivers meet and their black and brown waters don't mix. It looked really cool, but I never found out why it does that. Then we went shopping at some Indian stores to try and find a sloth claw necklace for Andrea. She only found one with caiman teeth. October 5, 2010. Bringing You Up to Speed. I sally forth, I'll give a quick recap of the highlights of my time here so far. Right off the bat, Andrea and I went to a Chiclete/Timbalada concert. It was Carnaval style, which meant that the bands were on giant trucks that drove around the concert area in circles. I learned that "crowd management" means only preventing large fights here. Also, that Brazilians like to get cloooose. I went to my first professional tennis tournament! Had to fit that in there).

April 18, 2011. The graffiti in Salvador is awesome. Most of it is very beautiful and artistic. A few weeks ago, the American Society sponsored a graffiti tour in the city. We rented a small bus, and drove to a couple sites of awesome graffiti. One of the local graffiti artists, Eder Muniz and his partner, Carly (an American Fulbright scholar) were our guides. Stephanie and Kevin Tyers. Monday, May 2, 2011. Change is good but awkward. I applied for a transfer to a new school a little over a week ago. On Friday I interviewed at Campo Verde and they offered me the job a few hours later. Campo Verde is a new school which is exciting for me because they are trying new things at the school and the staff is younger. The department chair there likes and respects me.
