Think Blog: August 2005
http://stefankst.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 19, 2005. My PowerBook is running Mac OSX Tiger. Now for almost two weeks and I have to admit that I like it. I was a bit skeptical when has been announced because it seemed to me that they're moving in the wrong direction. Instead of making the user interface clean and more usable, Apple kept adding new features. I was especially concerned about Dashboard. Is unquestionable a big step forward. I still use my favorite tool LaunchBar. There are some rough edges in the system (eg my Terminal...

Think Blog: July 2005
http://stefankst.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 29, 2005. This is why I really like Smalltalk (and it's dynamically typed companions). Determine the date at 12 days and 5 hours in the future! Future := DateAndTime now 12 days 5 hours. Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();. CalsetTime(new Date() ;. Caladd(Calendar.DAY OF MONTH, 12);. Caladd(Calendar.HOUR OF DAY, 5);. Date future = cal.getTime();. Now tell me, which one is more expressive? Are so much easier to implement in languages like Smalltalk than in this Java crap. I opted for the l...

Monday, September 12, 2005. Posted by stefankst at 12:27 PM. Sunday, September 04, 2005. I recently started development of a small MockObjects. Cocoa/GNUstep framework called "MocKit". MockObjects is a technique to test for interactions of objects instead of state. MocKit is inspired by the jMock framework. Describes this approach in more detail. MocKit follows the ideas of jMock although it's not an exact reimplementation. Here is a little example. Id mock=[MockObject mockForClass: [MyClass class] ;.

Monday, October 17, 2005. More tests, less comments. So I usually don’t add comments for things I have a test for. For an idea of what “test” stands for in TDD. There are many other interesting reads in this blog about TDD/BDD. Posted by stefankst at 2:33 PM. View my complete profile. Random thoughts of a Camaelon. More tests, less comments.

Random thoughts of a Camaelon: Automating DxO FilmPack (OSX)
http://camaelon.blogspot.com/2009/06/automating-dxo-filmpack-osx.html
Random thoughts of a Camaelon. Programming stuff, free software and gnustep things. Monday, June 29, 2009. Automating DxO FilmPack (OSX). Is an awesome set of filters for your pictures, rendering them using classic films - not just the colors, but the grain as well. It is available either as a standalone application or as a Photoshop plugin. As an example of what FilmPack can do, here's one picture I took, first the original, then two filtered:. Ilford Pan F Plus 50:. For i in `ls *.JPG`;. Of FilmPack an...

http://camaelon.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Random thoughts of a Camaelon. Programming stuff, free software and gnustep things. Monday, July 06, 2009. I finally took the time to redo my website. Obviously, I had to use Seaside. And as I did play with Pier. Some time ago, this looked like a good fit. The new theme is also frankly much better than my previous one - it's actually nearly exactly the same as the default Pier theme, but hey, I really like it, and it is cleaner :). Language, a mix of Forth / Lisp / Smalltalk - a higher level Forth. Interestingly, they do have Cocoa bindings. À Thursday, October 30, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Random thoughts of a Camaelon. Programming stuff, free software and gnustep things. Friday, April 11, 2008. Iliad iRex note taking and hand-writing recognition. I recently bought an Iliad iRex. A pretty awesome eBook reader. Among the cool features, it's running linux, an sdk is available, and it's really easy to hack stuff for it (for instance I wrote a simple script for downloading the 24h edition of The Guardian. Also, as shown with the previous link, the community is quite active :). All in all, it's...

Random thoughts of a Camaelon: Atari
http://camaelon.blogspot.com/2009/02/atari.html
Random thoughts of a Camaelon. Programming stuff, free software and gnustep things. Tuesday, February 03, 2009. Great stories about the creation of the Atari ST: part 1. I still remember fondly the ST, TT030 and Falcons. (The TT030 my dad had still works, afaik). I also remember the huge Megafile 30 on top of the MegaST - an incredible thirty megabytes of disk space! Why is it that I am now always short on space :). À Tuesday, February 03, 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And snow in london.
