We are a family firm, specialising in installing practical and robust heating systems based on extremely high efficiency boilers and renewable technology. Sterland and Elgar was founded in the middle of the last century by Charlie Sterland, a Birmingham heating engineer and Eileen Elgar, niece of the composer Edward Elgar. We are uniquely placed to offer good advice, as we are one of the few companies in the UK with substantial experience of heating with both conventional (oil and gas) and renewable (wood logs, wood pellets, solar, heat pumps) fuels. In specifying heating systems we set out to achieve the following:. Lowest possible lifetime costs (capital, fuel and maintenance costs). Robust and straightforward design of both heating system and controls. Maximum flexibility to cope with future changes to the property.
