The Mad Professor

Sunday, 18 July 2010. The burqa and the brain. The burqa debate has sparked some interesting blogs, but there is an element to these discussions that I have not yet encountered, and that concerns the physiology of facial expression interpretation. I thought it worthwhile to scribble a few lines about why it may or may not matter that we see the full face of another individual. Links to this post. Wednesday, 7 July 2010. This is principally a blog for cyclists, but may equally appeal. Ne interested in the...

The Mad Professor: June 2010

http://steve-mossblog.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 26 June 2010. Jenks: from tectum to rectum. Friends, and I have many, often ask me, 'my dear fellow, how on earth do you rally those vitriolic thoughts of yours into the cogent masterpieces of anti-science invective we know and love? With equal regularity, friends, for I am blessed with many, will urge me to explain in greater detail the birthing route that delivers what I think of as my 'conscience' to the printed page. If you're not 'pro'science then of course you must be 'con'science! I'm a ...

The Mad Professor: December 2009

http://steve-mossblog.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 23 December 2009. Science funding: the year in review. Next up was Germany. In June the German chancellor announced an award of some €2.7bn in research funding to German universities and research institutions. The funding will form part of an overall €18bn (. Money over the next 10 years) investment in science and education, the largest such single amount in Germany's post-war history. See http:/ tinyurl.com/1768c6. The Mad Professor: November 2009

http://steve-mossblog.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, 26 November 2009. In The Waiting Room. The waiting game goes on. I write this blog knowing that I should be soundly anaesthetised at the moment while my misbehaving mitral valve is reassembled with gore-tex threads. But again more pressing cases have displaced me, and I was phoned yesterday by the surgeon who very apologetically told me that the operation is now tentatively scheduled for next Thursday. Links to this post. Saturday, 21 November 2009. Links to this post. I've recently added a twi...

Movie Reviews

Monday, April 2, 2012. So Katniss now has a bow.Yay! Those are my major issues with the movie. They were certainly numerous but I still feel the movie provided what you would expect from it. Overall I give the movie an 8 out of 10. It had cool effects and some pretty decent dialogue and as I mentioned it is a tournament movie so I may have given it more points than it deserves but you can always see it for yourself and decide. Thanks for reading,. Wrath of the Titans-Review. Thank you for reading,.
