2012 Champaign Marathon

Monday, April 30, 2012. That was the hardest physical event I have ever done, but I am so glad I did it! We had a goal of less than 4 hours and we crossed the finish line at 3:56:27. At the half marathon we were at about an 8:40 pace. By the end we averaged 9:00 per mile. I really hit the wall around mile 20. My legs were really heavy and fatigue really started setting in. Around mile 22 I told Steve he. Was going to have to set the pace to keep us on track. He did a great job. It was quite humorous.

He is going to Atlanta to visit family in-laws and I am going to Florida to play in an old man hockey tournament. Saturday, March 3, 2012. This was a very strong week for me. All runs went well. Today's 19 miles was pretty strong too. Nothing other than leg fatigue and the usual 20 mph winds out of the west. Next week is another aggressive week. 51 total miles including 20 miles on Saturday. Hope it goes as well as this week. Bought some compression shorts on the advice of my stretching coach. Really helped the chaffing on my inner thigh. Don't dwell on that thought for too long! Sent from my Kindle Fire.
