iOS 7: 63 Cool little things that are easy to miss (tips and tricks) | The B Sides

IOS 7: 63 Cool little things that are easy to miss (tips and tricks). September 21, 2013. Little things I discovered in iOS 7. Goes a long way in improving the user experience. I will avoid the obvious changes (like presence of dynamic wallpapers, etc.). When you wake the device from sleep, the Lock screen clock subtly fades in before the background. This helps when you wake up in the morning in a dark room – you see the time first. In calendar, you can view all upcoming events by tapping the search icon...

Far Out: Jobs leaves the job. August 24, 2011. Steve Jobs doesn't quit. The news has come not 20 minutes ago that Steve Jobs has quit as the CEO of Apple. Here’s what I think it means –. 1 Health does look like the issue here, even if it hasn’t been said out loud. 2 There will be a slew of rumors online – ignore them. Really leaving. He will be The Chairman of the Board and the Director Of the company. 4 Life will go on. Apple will be fine. STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOOLISH. Far Out: Bale, The Fighter. I have be...

First impressions for iPad pro 9.7″ notes taking apps. 8211; Very smooth and precise Apple pencil handwriting, no audio capture option, not very good looking UI, available on iPhone and iMac. 8211; Awesome options and good look, too much lag even with Apple pencil update, has export to evernote option. Notes Plus – Great options, developer slow, lag significant. Noteshelf – Not my handwriting! The worst as yet. Penultimate – Playful UI, very few options, great lasso and Evernote integration. PS Check out...

August 7, 2013. In the wake of the Trayvon Martin case, there have been numerous conversations all over the internet social media and TV. Politicians are calling for a national conversation. President Obama gave the most impassioned speech of his presidency. So, here are a few things that I have learnt, from various sources in the last few days, about how to talk and think constructively about race and racism. Please bear in mind that most of what follows is written from an Indian’s perspective. Don̵...

January 23, 2014. 8220;Well, of course I am dangerous. I am police. I could do terrible things to people…….with impunity.”. I started watching the new HBO show True Detective. The pilot of the show is my wet dream – the mood, pacing, camera work, cinematography, story, actors, acting and of course HBO’s production values – all spectacular. In my hypothetical/fantasy second life I have already made a hundred movies that look like this. I am hooked. On the web today. Follow Blog via Email. Engineering Mana...

Quotable Quotes: Marco Arment. October 8, 2011. Marco Arment of Instapaper:. 8220;As a four-year iPhone user, I’ve never thought, You know what I don’t like about this phone? The screen’s too small. I’d like to reduce my battery life, and I’d like my phone to protrude from my pocket in a larger and more conspicuous rectangle, to achieve a larger screen that I cannot comfortably use one-handed. That would be completely worth it. Not once.”. On the web today. Follow Blog via Email. Join 586 other followers.

Barely scratched the Surface. November 8, 2012. 8220;Nobody asked me about my Surface. I tried flashing it all over the place. But despite my best efforts, no one seemed curious. The only person to comment on it was a TSA agent at the Seattle airport, who told me I didn’t need to take my iPad out of my bag.”. On the web today. Follow Blog via Email. The Daily Huff | Just call me Steve.
Just call me Steve. Stories from my youth. Men in Tan Suits and Furry Hats. I first published this in a blog about 4 years ago. The blog’s been gone for a while, but I also copied it to Facebook, where I re-read it today and decided it’d be fun to post here. This was originally written in early 2009 and I’ve only deleted one sentence from the Facebook note and added this paragraph.). I am still trying to figure out just what the hell they were all about, even 20 years later. I am not making this up.

Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Right: Herbert Schlosser with his wife. Many people across the globe have read Eric Schlosser’s books “The Fast Food Nation” and “Reefer Madness” but do not truly know his history and how he got to be one of best authors in the country. This article is about how this man came to be and how he got to be who he is today. Tuesday, December 11, 2007. So the big question is. How do you make sure you don’t arrive late for that next meeting or cram for the next test? To wrap up thi...
