Lipsey Family Blog: October 2009
http://lipseyfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 27, 2009. An old friend told me she was tired of seeing the same old rabbit when she came to the blog, so I guess its time for an update! Meredith had a chance to get pampered as a princess at a tea party themed birthday party this past month. She LOVED it, and would go around for the next week with her lipstick party favor and toy purse and apply make-up all week long. She also enjoyed talking about her painted fingernails, and would show them to just about anyone who came along. The Wo...

I probably have enough stories from covering three Olympics to cover a couple of chapters in my memoirs. I had no idea what to order so Bill, who had arrived in Seoul, Korea a week earlier said he’d be glad to order. He knew I had a fondness for Mexican food but he suggested the lettuce wraps. That was five years before P.F. Chang’s opened the doors on its first restaurant, but Bill described it as sort of a taco but with lettuce instead of a tortilla. The marathon is on Sunday, but on Saturday they have...

Sun Belt Conference football coaches picked Arkansas State to finish third behind Georgia Southern and Louisiana Lafayette but the media voted 11 Red Wolves on the preseason first and second all-Sun Belt teams that were announced Monday before the league’s media day event at the Superdome in New Orleans. The 11 picks included six first-team members and five second-team members. Louisiana-Monroe defensive back Mitch Lane, a Watson Chapel graduate, and linebacker Hunter Kissinger, a Springdale Har-Ber grad...

Anyone who knows me knows I’m not a big baseball fan. I loved it growing up. Played it at Lamar Porter Field for many years, and yes, I had suicides after games and burgers at Glenn’s Drive In a couple of times. I used to go to Ray Winder on a very regular basis. Yet, […]. HOUSTON My first Final Four was in New Orleans but only because of the Houston Cougars, winners of the Southwest Conference Tournament in 1982. It was the beginning of Phi Slama Jama, the world’s tallest fraternity, that consisted of Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Michael Young, Larry Micheaux and Rob Williams. A columnist, Tommy Bonk, […]. To win Hogs must:. Run, run and run some more. In the Arkansas Razorbacks win over Louisiana Tech the offensive line was much better blocking for the run than the pass. Austin Allen had a good game passing, but he was sacked four times. The Hogs ran for only 106 yards, but Allen lost 26 in sacks and they […]. Hog pregame adds Hogs. Ballots are being accepted until Wednesday for the Football Writer’s and National Football Foundation’s Sweet 16 college football poll. Here’s my initital ballot:. Red Dress run II. More than 4,000 runners in red dresses participated in last Saturday’s run in New Orleans, but it seemed like 40,000 celebrated in the French Quarter most of the day and night. We took the long way back to the hotel. I’d say a good time was had by many, but most did not remember it. Richard Williams, head football coach at Ar...

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Masters last weekend. When I was in my 20s I played golf. Not well, and apparently not often enough. I like to tell people now, since I haven’t played golf in many years, that it took me only one lesson to get it right and that came with the pro […].
