As the major mosque in Istanbul, the appropriate respect has to be shown on entry to the mosque. The inside of the mosque is very bare, but the walls and ceiling are beautifully ornate. What a palace, although it doesn’t have the extensive gardens of Versailles and Schonnbrun palaces, the interior rivals and except for the hall of mirrors in Versailles, surpasses them both. Dolmabahce palace, seen from the Bosphorus boat tour. And the claim to fame of the palace is the biggest chandelier in Europe, a massive 4.6 tons. Impressive. And a pity I don’t have a picture of it. One off the bucket list.
