Red Squirrels in South Scotland. In August 2008 Phase IV of the RSSS project was launched. This new phase of the project was carried out in partnership with the Scottish Wildlife Trust who in 2008 launched their Saving Scotland's Red Squirrel project. During this Phase new partnerships were also formed with Scottish Natural Heritage and the Forestry Commission, as well as considerable input from the private sector. Our current efforts are now focussed on halting the spread of the deadly Squirrelpox virus.
