this kitchen is delirious: subsistence
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/09/subsistence.html
Thursday, September 18, 2008. Autumn has officially arrived, but I'm still scrambling to the farmer's markets for the final berries of the season. Though berries should be relished in their naked, sweet beauty, they also go awfully well in baked goods. And because this blog has seemingly defaulted into very occasional showcases for sweets, I give you.fruit.on cupcakes. And followed those with chocolate cupcakes filled with peanut butter buttercream. Auction winners like their chocolate, I suppose. Too fe...

http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Here I am in grad school. I am still eating. I am still in love with vegetables. This autumn I specifically fell in love with romanesco broccoli and chanterelle mushrooms, from the farmer's market and self-foraged respectively. I am working very part time at KBCS. The local community radio station. Every time I turn around, I reel over a new voice. Some of my favorites this year were. Zoe Muth and The Lost High Rollers,. Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

this kitchen is delirious: the autumn that was eaten by time
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/01/autumn-that-was-eaten-by-time.html
Wednesday, January 2, 2008. The autumn that was eaten by time. I suppose I owe an update. I started a new job in late August at Seattle's Crisis Clinic. The greatest cookbook of all time. Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero made this world a better place with the unveiling of Veganomicon. The day after Thanksgiving, my grandma, Corriene, turned 85. She is partially responsible for the onslaught of relatives that my holidays become- she has six children and countless grandchildren (and, for th...

this kitchen is delirious: will you miss me when i'm gone?
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2007/03/will-you-miss-me-when-im-gone.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Will you miss me when i'm gone? Celebrations are so often centered around food. We remember birthdays and weddings for the cakes, wakes for the casseroles, holiday meals for the mashed potatoes and gravy. But there are foods that evoke a different kind of memory. A quieter, personal event. Food that reminds you of a person or a mood. There are a handful of foods that remind me of my grandmother. Apple pie, orange rolls. Wow, Maggie, that's a beautiful tribute to Grandma! I need...

this kitchen is delirious: cupcakes for a cause, season 2
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/05/cupcakes-for-cause-season-2.html
Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Cupcakes for a cause, season 2. 45 minutes spent cracking hazelnuts. For the second year, I donated four dozen vegan cupcakes to an auction for the Northwest Network of Bi, Trans, Lesbian, and Gay Survivors of Abuse. Raised $120. I was just pleased to break a hundred. This year, I busted out the big spoons and, as evidenced above, spent a Saturday morning putting blood and sweat into a damn fine dozen of cupcakes. Hazelnut Cupcakes with Hazelnut Mocha Mousse,. this kitchen is delirious: orange you glad
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2007/04/orange-you-glad.html
Monday, April 23, 2007. I used to eat these things like there was no tomorrow. I seem to remember them popping up often as Spring rolled around. So shall you ever tire of cinnamon, oranges make a mean roll too. Although, you best not be afraid of sugar if you want to make this recipe. 2 cups warm water. 1/2 cups unrefined sugar. 1 cup powdered soy milk (plain). 1/2 cup blended silken tofu (Mori Nu). 1/2 cup soy margarine, softened (Earth Balance). 7 to 8 cups unbleached all purpose flour. Too few of us, ...

this kitchen is delirious: September 2007
http://thiskitchen.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 10, 2007. Red Onion, Green Pepper, Avocado, and Tomato. We took a small supply of trail mix, Primal Strips. Apples, crackers, hummus, and the fixings for burritos. Just because we were backpacking, does not mean we should go without a sweet trifle after dinner. One chocolate bar. Split four ways and a few sips of coffee went well with the trance of flames. Cream and Peebs, sans backpacks. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Vegan cupcakes take over the world.
